that last photo is a perfect picture for teaching someone the difference between a round cutter and a square cutter and why the round one will cut in dirty wood longer.
Turkey oak, which I prefer for firewood, won't even crack like that while in log form.
Even after 2 years sitting out in the open it'll shed its bark, but once bucked & split it still needs to season at least 2 years to burn well and long.
Split & bucked it can withstand the tooth of time and seasonal erosion for easy half a decade plus.
I also make a point to debark all my firewood when I split it to reduce bug infestation which begins under the woods bark.
