I'm quite interested.
I'll post something up on the weekend. So far I'm surprised how much cut speed I'm willing to give up for less reaction force and vibration, especially as the day goes on.I'm quite interested.
This takes me back to sharpening chipper. Side plate has a big curve out and is almost vertical. Oregon 73DX Semi, 7/32, 30 across, 10 down.

DON’T you rest the other end on the next cutter?Hmm, I wonder why the chain seemed kinda slow..... Yes, the gauge is sitting at the highest raker setting, not the lowest.

Just a lick too high ...Hmm, I wonder why the chain seemed kinda slow..... Yes, the gauge is sitting at the highest raker setting, not the lowest.

Yep, just 15 or so swipes per raker and it was back to cutting great again!Just a lick too high ...
But, have You paid attention as to how they run their saws?I'm in no way saying this is a good idea but, I was watching some videos of guys free hand milling with old 070's in a jungle somewhere. They are using Stihl 46RM and sharpening with 3/16 files. I have some spare links of that so here's what it looks like if you copy some of there technique.I have done 46RS this way before and it works, not sure about this.

Yep, I don't think it's a good idea but had a few spare links so thought I would have a look at what it turns out like. I don't think I would actually do a chain this way but I do have some 3/8 RM that I hate so maybe.......But, have You paid attention as to how they run their saws?
Blip, blip, blip and only the tip.
They also tend to do a lot of "sawing" movements while cutting.
Just saying.
Go for it and report back!Yep, I don't think it's a good idea but had a few spare links so thought I would have a look at what it turns out like. I don't think I would actually do a chain this way but I do have some 3/8 RM that I hate so maybe.......
And that is why battery powered equipment can not replace gasoline powered ones..404 vs battery saw chain:
