I'm quite interested.
I'll post something up on the weekend. So far I'm surprised how much cut speed I'm willing to give up for less reaction force and vibration, especially as the day goes on.

Also, so many terrible factory grinds. The winner so far is a cheap brand here called Prokut, it worked ok for literally 1 cut. Not even 1/3 of the way into the second cut it was done.

What the hell is the point in putting a aggressive edge on a new semi chisel chains to the point it can't make 2 cuts is clean wood. Then the shape doesn't match the file so it takes 8 or 9 strokes to fix the dam thing.

This takes me back to sharpening chipper. Side plate has a big curve out and is almost vertical. Oregon 73DX Semi, 7/32, 30 across, 10 down.

I have had a really bad run with Stihl RM chain lately. Here's the side plate of the factory grind. If you can see the witness mark on the side, then you will notice it's not even close to matching.

3 new loops, 2 didn't cut at all and the other was very average.

I'm in no way saying this is a good idea but, I was watching some videos of guys free hand milling with old 070's in a jungle somewhere. They are using Stihl 46RM and sharpening with 3/16 files. I have some spare links of that so here's what it looks like if you copy some of there technique.I have done 46RS this way before and it works, not sure about this.

But, have You paid attention as to how they run their saws?
Blip, blip, blip and only the tip.
They also tend to do a lot of "sawing" movements while cutting.

Just saying.

Yep, I don't think it's a good idea but had a few spare links so thought I would have a look at what it turns out like. I don't think I would actually do a chain this way but I do have some 3/8 RM that I hate so maybe.......
