Husqvarna X-Cut C85 , 56DL/15" going through a 20" Turkey Oak log
Started with an over cut and just pulled her around.
Makes a very narrow kerf, but still works fine for a k095 bar (a D009 bar would most likely get pinched).

Damn it, I know better than this!
It was too late once I felt it.
This chain WAS so sharp it went through cherry like a hot knife through butter, till it suddenly didn't.

I am angry at myself, no need to ad salt to the wound.
Gonna grind that mess out now.
This is my 84DL Oregon full skip! 😢

This is pretty similar to what the chain on my loaner 562 looks like every time I get it back. That being said, I grind chains for the person who is usually the culprit and Carlton chain is invincible. An Oregon chain can get fubared like that in 1hr of cutting, Stihl will do a little better in a day, Carlton can do days of that and still throw decent chips. The Carlton chains I are also hard enough they break all the teeth off of my files whether they are new Stihl, used Oregon, or anything in between.

Brand new Stihl flat file, tried setting rakers on my MMWS6100 Vanguard loop.
Most of the LH rakers were so hard they just ruined the file.
I ended up grinding the rakers.

This is my Husqvarna flat file after de-burring a lot of milled 12.9 grade bolt steel.

I’ve been putting cutting gel on my files. Definitely helps.

I just recently started prepping my files with cutting gel. It does seem to help.

I had this with a roll of GB branded chain about 5 years ago. Every depth gauge had a super hard bubble of chrome on top that destroyed the file. The guys I bought the chain from gave my money back and though the roll out.

Specifically what product have you been using with good results?
I have never tried it but I seem to recall hearing that leaving dull files in a pan of acid for a while would revive them some.

My neighbor saw mill used a gel-stick on his carbide teeth before grinding/sharpening the 60" circle blade. He said it kept the edge cool and hypothetically kept the diamond dust down.

Ain't sayin it’s the best, just what I had. Got it in an auction. It helps keep a bond between the cutter and the material from happening and reduces loading. If your files are too soft it won’t help.

I tried the acid. Maybe I did it wrong but it didn’t bring the files back to anything I wanted to use.

Could you be over heating the chain while grinding?
It is possible that I got the rakers hot grinding/modding them.
Although I doubt it.

I used to file all my chains and I remember that Oregon Vanguard chains always had irregular hard cutters and rakers.
I never noticed such inconsistency on the LGX/LPX chains.
