Mild heel clip, as mentioned I am just playing with this loop and this is my first heel clipping attempt.
I can always take off more, but I can not restore removed steel - nice & easy does it.

I think it aids "releasing the wood chip sooner" thusly reducing drag.

But I could be wrong in my thinking.
It is something a "racer" has to address!
Thought it had something to do with reduced drag when rounding the bar nose in a cut?

In any event, it shortens the top plate, so you need to replace your chains more frequently!

It is a "race chain thing"! ;)
It needs to work, if it gains a thousands of a second through a cut it is working.

Life expectancy is not a consideration as a race chain can snap anytime due to what is being all done to it.
I actually fear the one I posted above might let go if I try it since all I have in my yard is turkey oak and that stuff is tough.

Can’t figure out how to explain it
The cutters heel kicks the cutting edge "out of the wood" as it turns around the bar nose thusly reducing bite of the following cutter and causing "chatter" due to uneven bite.
P.S./Edit: ... when bore cutting!

Does that sound logical or am I just full of it?! 💩
