Sure was. And I can say they aint as fun! I just like the 200tT's much better. That one needs a home.

I say we make a project ( again) out of the 201t.
lets bump the timing, drop the cyl( delete base gasket-or have it milled) and gut the muffler....see if we can make it "great"

anybody got a carb gutted or modded we can test out for a 201t...

what carby is the 201TC using now ? I hear they are being accepted by the climbers now...

last year I could get an upgrade kit very cheaply, but Stihl corporate decided to no longer subsidize the "recall kit" as I called it, so the price essentially quadrupled
its too bad because the kit turned an early 201T into a real usable saw on par with the 200
the new 201T is decent, but too many guys hate them for the saw to ever be accepted by pros
Brad does a nice job upgrading them pretty cheaply, they are very workable, but a bit louder too which a guy running it in the tree all day may not like.

oem carburetor, oem flywheel and oem ignition coil, all three different from what was originally installed
The AM requires really large prepaid orders for new parts before they begin development in most cases.
They are looking for maximum return on the investment just like the vendors who sell the parts, in my opinion the MS201T will be an aberration that chainsaw history looks back on with scorn.
I would be surprised to see much in the way of aftermarket parts ever really. Cylinders and carbs, but who knows which model they will choose to duplicate, there is a really nice Meteor cylinder kit, but so far I haven't sold many.

its a shame Dave, the 201TC is a strong runner and nobody knows it yet as the 201t is giving so may climbers a bitter taste. Hence the strong demand for 200ts ( and a happy Lone Wolf !!!)

I am a Husky guy but I admire your 200 collection.
I've had one MS200 rear handle before, and it's one of the few saws I regret I sold, got an 201 later who is probleby the only saw I was happy to get rid off.

they changed the price on those kits so they could get some speed in their new saw sale, you can call it cynicism, but that is how they all work, Husky included.
I dont know why Stihl didnt name the new one for 202, silly mistake if you ask me, 201 will always have a bitter taste by many.

Dave, please explain. What do you mean "different"??? My brother has a rear handle 020 that he loved, but no longer runs right. My Nephew played with it, but could not resolve the problem, and I think concluded parts were hard to find.

Do these parts fit that, and what do they cost???

Thanks.

020t and 201t are night and day different saws Mike. Dave was talking about upgrading the "early" 201t to "new" or late model 201t standards.
