the one without the beak will last longer for sure. i think that point on the gullet is too close to the cutter and will slow them both.

Two tanks of fuel worth, same saw, same chain, same firewood logs - after just touching up the cutters with a "lick of the wheel".
No pictures, been raining on & off all day.

The "sickle" shaped cutter profile sure does keep a better edge whilst being only mildly slower cutting & mildly less self feeding (it likes down pressure, does NOT need dawg engagement!).

I have been chasing the "big-C" cutter profile in an attempt to replicate a round filed cutter , I may have actually missed out on cutting longevity all this time.

New out the box Stihl 36RS.

Dear chain manufacturers, stop grinding small, fragile beaks on chains trying to wow us with out the box performance. About 50% of the cutters on this chain have a damaged corner already because they are to fragile to be transported from the factory to a customer in a f'ing cardboard box.

RM is good semi chisel
I'm in a strange place where I can think of quite a few semi chisel chains like RM or 27X that I like but I can't think of a full chisel that I would say is great from start to finish.

I just got a loop of husky S85 and S35G to try out. I think my round full chisel days are done. It's going to be square or semi once I'm done with the current lot.

New Husqvarna S35G .325 058 Semi. The more I see of the husky chain, the more impressed I am with them. Very high quality, well made stuff. The factory angles are very different to what I normally run but I'll give it a try.

The X-cut C83 chain, is some of my favorite,
I have a couple of C85 loops, the factory grind is a bit to fragile for the wood I cut but it is really well made. Consistent cutter size and shape, files nicely, just a well made chain.

It's quickly becoming my favourite as well

As @Squareground3691 noted, maybe don't cut that deep into the gullet.
But You have a nice Sickle shape going.

Looks like ur top plate is under cut to much , especially the far cutter , for hard wood, more like this.View attachment 419851
Ah, my favorite - the round filed Big-C cutter!
That looks sharp.

I have come to discover that a Sickle shaped cutter holds its edge longer in dirty and hardwoods than a Big-C cutter, it is marginally slower cutting though.

In softwood Big-C is king!
