Anyone square grind 23rsp?
23rsp is real fast out of the box. Hard to duplicate, hooky and delicate. I think @Armbru84 tried squaring it now that I think about it. Said it wasn’t any faster. Maybe @PA Dan . But maybe square could be a little more durable, less grabby, and sever chips vs. choking on them better. @species8472 do you guys race it round or square?what is it for?

Be respectful!red ones too
I ran a 16” loop RSP for an unbelievably long time. I think it is some kind of hard alloy. (never tried hand filing it) Finally hit a rock while cutting in snow. I square ground it and was equivalent, but not better than the factory compound grind. I have a bunch, just in case the outlaw the stuff! lolAnyone square grind 23rsp?
Following up on this. Didn't work, Still cuts like crap. I hate this chain.I have a couple of loops of this carlton 325 that I hate. It's cutter is a strange Hight and nothing really fits in there great so I tried this. Pferd 3 square file. No idea if it works yet.View attachment 416864
More updates,Hopefully this might help someone when starting out with square.
The first pic is the side plate when filed with a Pferd 1250 DKT 175 hexagonal file.
Second is with a Vallorbe hexagonal file.
Both are the same design but have a different overall diameter. The Pferd is smaller overall but has a larger flat section that forms the side plate angle. The Pferd fits better in more chains and has a less aggressive cut than the Vallorbe.
The finished results with both are less photogenic than a double bevel file, it's just not as pretty but I think they are more effective.
Learning to use one is a up hill struggle. If your starting out use a double bevel at first.

Have you tried 23RS Pro chain ?More updates,
Polar opposite of the carlton .325, this A3LM done with a Pferd 3 square is probably the fastest and smoothest cutting "work" chain I have ever used. I would take this over RSL every day.
It's pure crap round filed, factory grind is awful but the thin top plate is really well suited to square. It's hard to believe the difference.
