It's a limited coil I'm sure.
It's got a extra box thing and all of it looks unfamiliar.

The one I had wasn't limited so what has to be done to put a regular coil on it?

It may be unlimited
The first run of coils were unlimited with a seperate ignition module

See info in Keith's post

1124-400-1305 Unlimited Ignition Module which requires the Trigger 1118 400 1001 (First Production)

1124-400-1306 Limited Ignition Module (Second Production)

1124-400-1308 Unlimited Ignition Module (Third Production)

As for mounting the 066 coil, I believe @Iron.and.bark has done it and @VinceGU05 was working on it.
I would love to know what they did as mounting options

Ok. Just for you Brewz. I took some pics.

So this is how a 660 coil sits in there.

Made a bridge out of some flat. And screwed it down.

Because the difference in the flywheel diameter, it needs to be tickled a tad on the ends. I just used a parallel burr.

Yeah. They run. I did it last winter. Gotta switch key slots in the fw though or you'll lose a finger. Tree guy uses it a couple times every week

The 088 I got with the 084 is a bit rough but runs.

I have decided to keep it and make it mechanically sound to be the red headed step child that lives on the mill.

That way I can hack, modify and dodge it up so it suits the roll and not worry about how it looks.

I took the cylinder off for a look inside and found this

The cylinder is fine so must be a replacement.

I am going to fit the piston from my CP 084 kit to get it running and make a thin gasket to lower the squish .010
Minor muffler mod and new crank seals and that will do it.

I don't think it's worth grinding on it for milling

Ok
Next saw to do a build on is this rubbish dump find Husky 50 Rancher.
Still has the original Oregon bar and a peek in the motor tells me its done little work.
It looks like it was used for a while and has sat in the corner of a shed or garage for the last decade or 2 until it was thrown out.

I am after a 2nd rear tank handle insert as one is missing. If anyone has a spare one please let me know.

I just gave the top cover a clean and it come up nice

IMG_0461.JPG

Parts appear easy to get so I will give it a full rebuild, mild porting, muffler mod, sand back and polish up the original bar and fit a new chain.
It should also respond well to a good muffler mod. Check out the little openings.

This was the cleanest part of the saw once I started to dig

IMG_0463.JPG

Piston and cylinder are near perfect.
There is some serious restriction in the intake tract which I will do some work on.

A question for folks who have stripped one of these before, how do you get the worm gear off the crank shaft?
It's on there pretty good!
@Tor R ?

Well, a bit of research tells me I need a special puller tool to remove the worm gear, which will likely cost me more than the saw is worth.
I am thinking I will carefully use heat and replace it or slot it carefully to break it off and replace it.

Just if people are interested, the cylinder:
@drf256 may be interested in the small chamber on this saw with identical specs as the Stihl 026

IMG_0470.JPG

The carbon buildup on the band was touching the piston and the piston does have some wear so I will get a meteor and replace all bearings

But I can't do much till I get that reached worm gear off.

The dremel will sort it!
