This is the saw @Yukon Stihl donated to the raffle. He didn't have time to rebuild it so I'm doing it. Here it is as received.

Hmm HDA 35b carb. Can't say I've seen or heard of this carb in a 262??

Looks like the cylinder will clean up just fine.

Piston is definitely junk!

Time to do some cleaning!
The bearings feel tight but not smooth. I'm going to flush the case good with some kerosene and hopefully it's just some crud in there. Or I could split the case and do seals and bearings for good measure? What do you all think?

A 3000 psi electric that burns diesel,180 degree water. It's a hotsy.

In 5 min I have a spotless grease free saw.
Water don't matter cause your taking it apart anyway.

I've redone a bunch of saws and a steam cleaner is the best way to clean one.

It will heat water hotter than 180 but it's not necessary plus it will burn the *s-word out of you when you get it on you.

I've done it the hard way many times and there's no good way to get the nooks and crannies clean other than hot pressurized water.

I use one of those on Equipment. How the hell do you hold a saw still? Every time I've tried something small it ended up out in the parking lot.

What's the serial number?

It is interesting in that it has the new style tank without the "secret compartment", has the metal seal cover on the flywheel side, has air injection, has no decomp valve, has the old style crankshaft driven oil pump. Was this saw made in a transition year (93 - 94)? My original '94 has the secret compartment, air injection, decomp and a clutch driven oil pump.

Yeah, the Walbro 35b was never used on any 262's but was used on the 254. I would have expected a 120 on that saw because it's not early enough for an 87 and not late enough for a 144a.
