Like his one? I usually run either a 30" bar or 32":661 is kinda a middle heavyweight like the 390xp in my eyes. The stiffer av and oiler is better with longer bars on the 394/5. The 661 is a great saw though and I would imagine to be very nice with a 32/36” lightweight bar.
bp655 That is one saw I have wanted to run they look like good runners stock in the videos I have seen of them. In stock form the Solo 603 was a dog according to miller mod saws but it ran very good after porting, wide powerband had a lot of low rpm power you could lean on it and pull the rpm down and it would keep on cutting. Really was a neat 80's designed muscle saw. The MMWS 2100cd had a similar feel and despite being over a decade older design and giving up a few cc to the SOLO 603 in stock form it is probably the stronger and faster saw of the two both were cool saws once ported and had a lot of grunt. It hasn't been mentioned likely because its a 90cc class saw but the newer design Stihl MS661 ported is a very strong saw there just as strong as the 394/395 now that the porters have had time to better figure out what they needed. I am looking forward to getting one of themI really wish Dolmar/Makita would make a new 90-100cc saw and Husqvarna too
Ported correctly the 661 runs with the 395's big bars included redbull661 tested a treemonkey 661 and treemonkey 395 they can definetly run with the 395 and I am a huge 395 fan there both fantastic sawsA 661 is no where near the same class as the 395 it’s in the same class as the 390, with that said the 661 is smoother then the old 66 designs yes but still isn’t as smooth my hands tell me real quick after a day of cutting. On a 661 or a 390 a 42” bar is where I’d draw the line on the power even ported, jump up a class to the 395 will pull a 50 stock and ported they pull 60’s.

I have a 076 super. Its no speed demon but its got good torque. Very heavy thoughWhat’s the consensus on the 075? One popped up pretty cheap here locally... a reputable source told me they were a turd.

Needs carb work... starts but dies after a few seconds. Has a 36” bar and a “new chain”. Guy wants $250 for it... Seems like a lot of cc’s per dollar.I've had a few 075's and 076's and still own a few. I've seen a couple I sold cuz they
would vibrate them selfs across the floor. The ones I have now are pretty nice saws.
Heard folks complain about power. But I took one of my 076's to a gtg and had a guy
compare his to mine and he fell in love with mine. Said it was nothing like his. They
are one saw that none are the same for what reason who knows. I personally like
them as a good runner is fun to run.
If the price were right and a nice runner I wouldn't hesitate to buying it.

Lee, the 075/076 seem to be hit and miss. Some run well, though not fast, others are a real disappointment, even with the bad ones in seemingly great condition. I had a clean, in great condition 076 super that had way less power than my round top 066. It barely could pull a 36" bar. Even a reputable Stihl dealer pronounced it as "running as it should". Run great, yes, power, no so much. The 076 super I currently have will pull a 60" bar as I think it ought. I have heard praise and disappointments By several folks so if you have a good one keep it and be glad. If not, do you won a boat?I've had a few 075's and 076's and still own a few.
