I've never run a saw the size of a CS 1201, but when I do, I'll be sure to not juggle it along with two other chainsaws.

I thought you did pretty good: I'm glad you were given the warning 5 months prior.

Thanks, Cousin. I sure do appreciate you letting me be one of the first few to run that saw. It was quite the experience.

Those are pretty nice and smooth. I ran leeha's last year with his over bored 166. Both very nice saws.

As far as saws over 100cc I will give the nod to a 655BP. Very nice long bar saw. Pulls great in big wood.

As for the 90cc saws that think they are 100 and the convo on the 394/5... I'd like to chime in a say the 9010's can be barking at the heals of a 394/5. I can barely get my Scarr Ported 9010 enough big wood to eat. I think the big shame is that they didn't come with spring AV like the husky's.

Speaking of dolmars and 100cc++... Some of you had the pleasure of meeting Dolkivarna before. 395bbk squeezed inside a 9000 makita/dolmar chassis (9010 ign). Shaun spent countless hours making this work. Take a look.

113cc Dolkivarna!!!!

I've since learned that a 42" with full skip puts a little better load on the saw and brings the rpm down just enough for it to still cut like a monster and stay off the top of the limited coil. I think the carb running that saw is still the original Bing.

The top saws seem to be Husky 2100 and Olympik 999f for long 50+ inch bars. The Echo 1001vl while slower, would also be a great long bar saw. The 655 and P variants are probably the best & fastest 36 & 42 inch bar saws, though the 2100 is right up there. I'd rate the 603, toaster, and 153 behind those aforementioned saws. The old Mac 790 &795 and Homie 1000xp, six cubes, while strong, just dont measure up. Others may find things differently though. differenty

I had a miller mod saws ported solo 603 it ran very well. But in stock form I was told it was very unimpressive it really woke up after porting and had a lot of torque miller mod saws ported it for me and I only ran it after porting he made some videos of it.....

I also had a Husky 2100cd mastermind ported for me it was a strong saw as well. I felt my MMWS ported Husqvarna 394 and 395s were a bit stronger than the 2100 in medium size wood never compared them in any really big stuff. don't know how they'd compare stock.

It’s hard to beat a 394/395 with a long bar (36”). The 394/395 isnt stressed with long bars... it doesn’t feel like it’s being worked hard and ive seen the one my boss has live a long abused life so far with a 36” full comp. They don’t have to scream to cut wood and are comfortable to run.

2100 is slow compared to a 395 stock

I don't know how (each ported) the solo 603 vs husky 2100 or 394/395 would of done in really big wood. As for which would be the strongest in more medium up to 36" size hardwoods I didn't see either the 2100 or the 603 beating the 394/395 based on my limited experience with them. In the big 42" plus stuff the 603 and 2100 would probably be a good challenge for the 394/395s. But I like the 395's best because parts availability is better than the 2100 and 603 and the av is better and the air filtration is better and the 395s are lighter and faster cutting saws in moderately sized wood and are very strong even with big bars and will oil them fine too.

This is my pick for a 36"
I must admit that this is the only saw that nipped me at a GTG about 5 years ago. I was running a stock Stihl 084 and 404 pitch chain. He was running skip tooth 3/8" pitch chain, but he did say it was ported and he was using airplane fuel. Not sure what all that meant, but his 394 XP did win out twice at each end of the same log. Both of us were driving 36" bars. Nobody else there came close to either of us, so he won top eliminator. Here's Edwin warming up with his 084 that finished second:
