MMWS 395xp 2.0 (been tickled twice)

Ive had the 2100, and the 655bp and also a ported jonsered 2095. The 395 humiliated them all. Strongest saw I have ever ran. Smooth, great filtration, and all the power you could want.

For what I have I'd pick a 2100 Husqvarna .Mine is stock but it does just fine .I like the fact it has a thumb oiler in addition to the automatic oiler .I think they all should have a thumb button .I think somebody had rocks in their head to ever stop putting them on saws .Then on the other hand they sell chains and bars .< cheap bastages .

is this a saw for actual function or for the shelf? if you are using such a saw regularly I suggest something you can still buy parts for...therefore... husky 395,394 would be my pick ...

Don't the 394s have a scoosh more potential???
394 is stronger stock...395 can be built to spool quickly and ultimately a bit stronger. Both are stout though and most won't notice the difference.

Mild woods port 394xp. .404, full comp, semi chisel. Yeah its stout.

i love my 394, modded but not ported. next would be the MMWS660. would like a MS661 to play with .. but that's down the track. and need more time with my CD2100. a 24" bar i don't think is doing it justice.

Hands down a Masterminded 395. It has Mac 125 torque and close to 346 RPM. It will pull a 50" bar just plain stupid strong and more if you can oil it. Way more power, smoother, handles better, and much lighter than a 2100 Husky, stock 088, 750 Homie, 111s Jonny, likely a 153 & 603 or any 6 cube Mac sans an 895 when the bars get 60" and above. I suspect it would best a Homie 1050 and 1130 unless again, the bar is 60" and above. For vintage fun, a Poulan 655 is a hard 6 cube to beat with a 36" bar.

I've got a 394 in the works, I ran a jms ported 394 with a 24" bar..... Impressive
I have run a fair share of the bigger Husky and Stihl saws. A bar under 36", IMHO, does not show the saw off. Generally they are turning less RPM than a small saw. Its when the load increases, the RPM doesn't fall off and it maintains a rate of cut thats impressive. Take that JMSSAWS 394 and put a big bar on it and really experience the power. If its 24" bar work, give me a 562, 372, 268, etc..I don't want to lug around a big heavy saw for that.

Just my $.02. YMMV

Jimmy, that 395 goes like a scalded cat but the chain sounds and looks way to tight.

Its making that Zzzzzz sound and stops really fast, which robs the saw of power.

I love my Stihls but I have no brand loyalty. Its just what I know.
I would love to have a run of a big Husky.

It's not that tight. A full driver can be lifted clear of the bar in the middle. That bar is real picky to chain tension. Too tight and it'll tell you, too loose and it will beat the heal of the bar badly and toss the chain real quick. That bar probably needs more oil worked around it more than anything.. literally first cuts and fire up with that bar. It was cleaned with brake cleaner before hanging on the wall to remove any residual oil.
