Between my 076, husky 2100 and homelite 750, the homie is the clear winner, all stock with 36” bars, the story could change with a longer bar, but love the 750, the 750 feels like it would handle and oil a longer bar no problem! I really like my modded 661 with a 36” lightweight bar, really light smooth with lots of rpm’s! I would like to run a 395, I have a friend that has one, going to have to compare! I guess it depends what you want to do, budget, dealers ,new or used and max bar length, lots of good options!!

What’s the consensus on the 075? One popped up pretty cheap here locally... a reputable source told me they were a turd.

ive heard same [turd/fragile] more than once. mine is healthy and reliable. those that have run it are impressed. maybe I got a good [075] one. has 36" 3/8 8p on it. bury it & lean on it. paid $50. for it pho. paid more for b/c. it was a "spare" to this guy. liked his 125s.

$50 for a runner is a great deal! That is a sweet bar, looks Nos! Great pics too!9943E1F8-1A72-4FA6-A28E-D600BDD0A43F.png
I tested my Mac and 076, I like 125’s too
Mine, I think would feel stronger 36” 3/8, it didn’t like 42” 404, and the 125 would pull the same chain with an 8 pin vs 7 on the 076

I agree the 750 is a great saw. but we are getting out of the 6 cube category and
into the 7 cubes with comparing the 750's, 075's etc. The Homelite 650 is also a
great performer. Some say they like it better than the 750 do to the larger carb
they have.

I agreed on pushing the 6 cube category, but the op mentioned the 076 in the first post. I prefer the homelite over the 076, and figured if the 076 was in the mix then the homie was fair game! Lol

I ran a 650 and 750 back to back at a gtg a few years ago. The 650 had much more of a sportier feel then the 750.

That dude is still using a 125 to knock them down in 2014?

Just to stir the pot a bit... :) A fun comparison for sure. Not really equal but both running.404. Mac needs a longer bar and a adjustable carb to catch the 395 imo.

It’s interesting though how much variance there is in saws though regarding 075/076’s. Don’t have experience with that model, but for example, I’ve owned a 576xp that was a pooch... then I ran another stock one at a gtg that was impressive. I guess a man made item is going to have some variances.

I know what you mean Mason, although my experience with 576s has been more good than bad. The one that I did the repair thread on I tested out in the same logs that I had ran a ported 044 in a couple of days before and the Husky, fresh rebuild 100% stock, spanked the Stihl hands down. I wish I could say it was the chain but the 044 had a 25" wide nose Rollomatic ES bar wih a brand new loop of 36RS and the 576 had a 24" RSN bar (both 84 DL) with a used loop of Oregon semi chisel.

That’s impressive taking into consideration that it beat the 044 with semi chisel. I never base my opinion of a model off of one bad lemon. Especially if it was pre owned before I got it. Some people will badmouth something after one bad experience and that’s not fair imho.

Is that 395 stock? It’s a runner!
