Junked 2010 372xp I got for $30
Hit it with the pressure cleaner and it looks almost new under all the oil and muck.
Found what was wrong with it...... the front 2 cylinder screws had worked loose half a turn and the gasket was worn away from a bit of vibration. It has actually done very little work.
Gave it a gasket delete for .027 squish, cleaned out the carb and put it all back together.
5 pulls and it popped, and went next go with the choke off. Runs great!
All I will need to replace is the decomp which is blocked, and the muffler gasket.

Have another 372xp in parts, missing a lot of bits, and a 371xp in parts, also missing a lot of parts. Will make a list of whats needed tomorrow.

Stripped a junked MS660 that also cost me $30
The clutch is stuffed and the chain sprocket is blue from slipping, but once again, I could find nothing else wrong and once again, the saw appears to have done very little work.

I am liking this trend!

Got half way through stripping an 064 which this far, also looks to be really good under the much, and it is FILTHY!.

Will finish stripping the 064 tomorrow and do a bulk parts order to get them all running again.
I had my bird brained helper running around on the work bench half the day.

@Brewz, did you manage to find dealers where you could buy cheap projects from?

No, the dealers were no help.

I went chasing them in rural farming/logging areas where people only use quality saws, and tend to chuck them in a corner when they stop and get another one.
I got 15 saws like this for average of $50 each
It is paying off in spades!

Its a bit of work but I am setting myself up to speed up the process.
Cleaning was slow and tedious with degreaser and a brush, so today I went and bought a small cheap ($70) pressure cleaner.
I had the 372, which was putrid dirty, looking like new in 15 minutes.

I plan to put some of the profit from this first lot of saws into more tooling to make the job much easier.

May look at a small lathe, see what happens

I see it paid off for you to do the research, I'm doing the same as you, hunt down the projects on the countryside. I think both you and I live in countries where it's so expensive to fix a saw that even expensive saws get tossed.
I am done using lots of money to buy a single project, nowadays I am patience, eventually I get enough part saws to build a decent saw.

Get that pressure washer hooked up to some hot water and it will really clean up those dirty old saws;).
The saws you picked up are some really nice scores.
Theres definitely a couple that I'd have a hard time flipping. Then again, everything is for sale for the "right" price.

I have 2 x 064's
One of them has a dead top end, broken tank handle etc.
Basically its a good case and carb.

I am thinking I may use it to build one of these now legendary 064/066 hybrids in stead of using my 066.
Keep all the important bits OEM and replace all the "no load" bits with Chinese bits to keep costs down.

I need to score some good things out of all this work

The 2100CD is really nice.
Old school muscle saw with modern feel and balance.
The issue is parts...... bugger all out there.
