No belt sander-ing of cylinders!
But why not haha. Is that a digital timing wheel??
I like your method of motor hanger. I've got my tx on a big chain with multiple carabineers for height adjustment, that is then connected to the boom of my old cherry picker which is up in the rafters of my shop. Just picked up a set of rollers that I'm going to rest between the boom and rafter so I can roll it out of the way when needed. I've got a pretty small shop.

Yep, digital. I got it from @Red97 (worksaws.com). I like it better than my wheel.

I’d like my foredom to be more mobile, but the height adjustment is the most important thing. I’m always doing things like you’re saying with your grinder. This machine can go there, those tools can be moved to those drawers, why is this stuff in my way, etc. It can really keep me from getting things accomplished. Right now I’m working on getting the air compressor up in the loft so air lines hang from above and finishing the dust collector. Then the Bridgeport head gets a rebuild. It never ends.

I do mine on the welding table usually, but working on a 1” thick black rubber sponge pad . It takes the “vibes” out of the jug and I don’t have to think about mistakenly dinging up the bottom. No vise or any way to clamp it as you’re always moving it around. Tig welding glove on my left hand and hold the foredom in my right.

Also the air nozzle is always in arms reach and a finger light n head lamp.

Sorry, didn't see see that you said not for sanding cylinders. Was joking about people using belt sanders to do cylinder base cuts

Somebody was bound to mention it. JMS got blacklisted for doing all kinds of shady stuff, but belt sander base cuts were his calling card. Several inexperienced porting outfits have also described their work as “planing the cylinder”. So I added a photo of my 13” wood planer. Gotta have the best equipment!
