Excuse my ignorance please Vince ...Im assuming its a bit on the HOT side in your part of the world ?? Saws not running cool enough may be something your up against and if there not kept clean I would guess there in even more peril ?
I have found that to be the case on several Stihl saws. Most notably the 024-260 and the 029-390 saws. The aftermarket fuel lines for these Stihls are thin trash. If anyone knows of a decent substitute, I'm all ears...View attachment 23301 View attachment 23302
Lesson 1..don't bother with aftermarket lines that have to make very tight and twisting turns on a 024 !!.
I would assume it was from overworking the saw. Pushing through cuts with a dull chain, running too aggressive of a chain, or having too many teeth on the sprocket. If it was due to temp alone, it would show up on both sides.Excuse my ignorance please Vince ...Im assuming its a bit on the HOT side in your part of the world ?? Point taken Mark ...mine was a more general point rather than suggesting this was the cause of the problem in the pics. I figure saws get a hard time of it in hotter places and the cooling is more critical so clean fans and fins must be a help .I would assume it was from overworking the saw. Pushing through cuts with a dull chain, running too aggressive of a chain, or having too many teeth on the sprocket. If it was due to temp alone, it would show up on both sides.
I'm fixing to port my first 7900,good thing it's mine. Lol
If it goes well ill have a video later today.
I want one too he got me drooling again dang.please don't make me have to buy a dolmar.. I like my stihl.
I will argue that but.... it is hard to disagree after you run one lolDolmar, the best German saw.
