I had those windows left over from a job years ago. Seemed like a good place for em.

When you look at pictures of the old filing rooms from the logging camps they always featured lots of windows for the filer. Makes good sense.

The most important thing for me is the ability to get comfortable. That means a good chair or stool, a place to work where your legs can fit comfortably under the workbench, with the foot pedal easily accessible for either foot. Light is next. Gotta have plenty, and at the right position not to blind yourself. Tooling needs to be within reach so you aren't getting up and down repeatedly. And music.....gotta have good music.

Here is my setup, 2 hanging motors overhead flood lights with small diameter flex lights that fit the plug hole/decomp. Near side is used for mufflers/timing advance. Far side is grinding cylinders bar Matt's catch the swarf and cut down on vibration.

My mitutoyo digital caliper has always been right on checked against a dial set, got them almost 30 years ago in machinists school. But I also have some dial ones and a set of vernier calipers just because.
