254 XP that I am building for my Dad. This saw was so filthy when I got it that I could not even see this "repair" until I gave it a bath.

You ever use them?
Every time I have seen those split rings in a saw, there was a violent end just before it came to me. They seem to catch a port edge rather effectively from what I have seen...nope I wont. I like caber or oem
GotchaI was just bringing it up because @Stihlsmoking had ask about quad rings in a saw above.
I think that's what they were ! It wasn't quad rings. Lol

Started checking it over... pulled muffler and seen a carbon mark on the exhaust side, but would buff out and I couldn’t feel it.
The picture makes it look good. Drained that, threw the carb in the US, checks line (blew out more mud) pulled original filter, removed Champion plug. Compression seemed ok, scoped the cylinder and it looked good just a lot of carbon in the exhaust....and very wet inside with s grey ting.
And found this.... thought that’s easy.... until I grabbed the crank end and gave it a wiggle. Not good I could feel and see a lot of play. Well now bearings too. Let’s get it down and split the case.... did that and found this...
Case came apart but crank ends were still in bearings.
Never seen a crank break like this!!! Anyone else??? Lower rod bearing was still in good shape and functional.
