it'll work to melt the trimmer line into the holes? pretty sure I threw out those pieces.... need a low melting point plastic I suppose. or maybe hurricaine nuts lol
On @dall's 044, someone used too long a bolt in the side wrap handle location and pierced the tank. I heated up a piece of trimmer line to the point it was ready to drip. I shoved it in the hole, and cut the excess off flush. I heated up an 1/8" Allen wrench and melted the rest down into the hole. I repeated these steps a couple times until the hole was full. Drill it out and run a screw in it

I have an 028 that needed new bearings. I ordered a set of Chinese bearings and seals for it. The bearings went in fine but I messed up the seal on the clutch side. I thought, well the seal must have been off. I got a oem seal and it did the same thing. I got to measuring and the bearing is .010 too small for the seal. I have now ordered a nos oem bearing. It's a major pain in the butt.

The following events are true, names have been change to protect those involved.

A Day at the Saw Shop.

Customer "I need me a 20" bar and on of 'em there rippin' chains."

Me "Sir, I don't keep ripping chain in stock but I will be happy to order you one, how much milling are you planning on doing"?

Customer "I have sixty pine trees in muh back yard. I'm gonna take 'em down, cut 'em up into sections, oh, eight foot er so, and mill 'em into boards and beams so I can build me a pole barn."

Me "Sir that sounds like a good bit of milling, maybe I should order you a few chains. What kind of saw are you using"?

Customer "Husqvarna 445"

Me (in disbelief, trying not to laugh) "Ok sir, that will be One Thousand dollars."

Customer "A Thousand dollars, fer a bar 'n chain"?!

Me "Yes sir, and it comes with a 395."

So finally got all parts and time to finish up the 281/288 for a guy. Recap: he ruined p/c using piston screwdriver for piston stop. Replaced that with ks p/c. Then i found he had taken top off carb and didnt line up dowel and forced it on. Mushroomed the dowel. Now I am installing b/c and find the clutch is turning the sprocket full time but doesnt look engaged. The bell is not seated into the oil drive gear so the clutch is bottoming out!!
Thats 3 for 3. Everything he touched he has messed up.

I have a buddy who's like that. Once he had a strimmer in pieces for 6 hours rebuilding the carb. Not sure if it ever ran after that.
Once he spent weeks trying to install a new valve in a toilet, it was one of those without a float ball, or so he said. Really it was the float that slides up and down and he had lost it before he even started.
A couple years ago I figured he'd grown out of it and I gave him a Honda Express since he didn't have a car, all it needed was a new line from the oil tank to the injector. He managed to straight gas it.

That also works for gas tanks that leak at seams, or melt seam shut with soldering iron. Gotta make sure no gas fumes though or boom.

ok, this now qualifies for entry here.

Beat up Husqvarna 261
First the good news:
1. this was given to me free
2. all parts are there
3. case is good except for where the top cover bolts onto case, holes have rattled bigger, need to fix that with inserts or something

Bad news:
1. oem piston and cylinder NLA, need a good used cylinder that will clean up, and a new tank or a 55 tank, anybody have one available please pm me.

sorry, I labeled the piston 262, it is not, it is a 261 dished piston262 piston.JPG 261 tank first pic.JPG 261 tank second pic.JPG
