Stihl 046/460 D Jug. Are there benefits using it on a 460, or better using it on a Hybrid?

Cool thread--I also have a 1st year "good timing" D-jug (thanks to Brad for helping me figure it out). But alas, pretty much the rest of the saw is gone & I can't for the life of me find a parts saw.

Other than the Mahle, I have two solid "C" jugs muhself, but they're only made of beer and BBQ. And they're DEFINITELY not good runners.

If you were the guy from AS you should have took my offer. I had 2 good cases and a good 046 tank I sold.

Old thread... yeah I know, but I'm all interested in building a hybrid.
I scored a D chamber 046 cylinder and it measures 105/119/75

I find I need lower exhaust and higher intake for the hardwood here in Australia where peak RPM is useless.
Will probably save it for a work saw and get something else to take the exhaust right up for a race saw hybrid build

I disagree with ya hear Tony, those are great numbers in a 46. Drop the jug .020 and raise the exhaust a bit. It will have plenty of torque. Low exhaust doesn't always mean more torque

I agree, the D cylinder don't take much machine work to get the compression up around 200.
.010 from the squish band and set your squish to .020. 102/120/78 will make a strong hybrid.

I do it the other way, I cut my base first then adjust squish with the band

I was thinkin 1 and take .015 off the base and go 102/120/76? 24" bar
Maybe try 102/122/78.
Everyone likes different recipes with the hybrids. All a matter of porting style IMO. I like to keep my intake and exhaust durations close to equal and at least 20* of blowdown. .025-.030 off the FW key and a nice open muffler.
