David some of the 670's had a recirculating carb. So there is a supply and return line as well as the impulse. I'm not sure if the 625 ever had them and I'm pretty sure the 630's never did.
I don't know if it's original but I have a 630 with the return fuel line.

suggestions
Thats suprising considering it has the lip in the boot too that has to be streched over. I thought it was a pretty bullet proof design. Maybe not. Could be a casting flaw/seam on intake thats not letting the clamp seal properly? Id motoseal the whole thing and jam it on.

I've had a couple of Jred 2051 and 2055's leak from that boot. And it wasnt the rubber, it was the seal. I dont know if its the oblong shape and maybe the sealing clamp gets out of shape? Stihl has the best intake design IMO for years. I've got a 2051 here thats leaking from the boot whenever it warms up, dont know if the clamp is expanding. I'm going to take it off tomorrow and see whats up with it...

Well, it was the boot after all. Talking to a few people that was a weak spot on these saws. Good idea, bad design of the boot

I just put a Hyway 268 pop-up in my early 266se along with a base gasket delete. Night and day difference! Noticeably more power and holds rpm better in the cut.

Not sure where to get them other than OEM. I'll look in the morning to see how many I have

Thanks

It's strange there's all kinds of am source's for every part of a 61/268/272
Except this washer
I guess they don't use them just like none of my 365/372 clones have had the o-ring on the clutch side.

Suprisingly strong saw
For just a BGD and a pop-up piston
Cutting hickory running a 7 pin
Good torque
It'll pull a 24" fine
I'll add a deflector to the muffler first.20200510_174813_HDR.jpg20200510_174836.jpgbroken top cover but otherwise in good shape
I'll check comp when I get a chance.

I ended up putting a 272 p&c on this one, 266 will be the next one!
Base delete gave me .017 squish, cylinder has been ported, timing advance and second port added to muffler. Just waiting on a carb kit.

What type of rpm do you see when these are ported.

The four I've done ended up between 13,650-13,950. They all had different cylinders, 266 268 670 272. I used the the same numbers on all of them, 102-122-78.

Most of mine are in the 100 120 80 range also. Stock they seem to run 12500. Now some time ago I bought a bundle of ignition coils from over seas. A couple were junk right away. But all of them have much more aggressive timing because I had to go back to no timing advance on every saw I've ran one of them coils on. I lost rpms with those coils until I removed the advance.
