Is there a 272 piece that goes on top of the intake block & bolts to the case? 272 top end on a 625 II

The 625 and 670's have a hold down that bolts there that comes off the intake. Not sure what the huskys had?

I don't think so. When I put a 272 cylinder on mine all I used was was the rubber piece that goes around the block. If you use the filter box from a 272 there is a brace that bolts to the case over the block.

Yup, Ronie is correct here. The brace for the air filter box is not needed when converting a Jonsered to a 272 and keeping the Jonsered filter holder shown in tractorsaw's pic. The rubber piece that you do need is called a seal collar and it goes around the intake block. Part number is 501 659 001. That collar keeps out the sawdust and more importantly the heat from the carb area. Don't want to run the saw without it.

Yes I have that collar that fits over the block & around the cast rib area - was kinda tough fitting it correctly. The spark plug wire is hiding it in the pic. My choke rod ended up not going in far enough for the unchoke position - so I removed the grommet on the case that seems to fixed it. I still need to remove the flywheel & mod the timing but hopefully tonight I can do that. Picking up some 490 Jred parts at the dealer tonight & wanted to ask if I'm missing anything on this 1. Thanks!

What's everyone using to get these flywheels off? Had my 2 jaw puller wedged in & popped off a fin - was ready to just hit it with a big hammer - just walked away...

I screw the nut out to the end, put some pressure on the backside of the flywheel with a screwdriver and hit the nut with a hammer.

I put one of these together as needed, dont judge my welds on this one. I know they are ugly but it works good.

I got this older white top 61 from av80r3 a couple of weeks ago. Changed out the cylinder and put a Hyway 272 top end on it that's been opened up a little. It also got a new 260A carb, muffler mod, older 630 top cover to clear the plug and a chain break clutch cover. I fired it up last night but haven't tried it out in wood yet.

Little info for people like me who didn't know. The plastic tank on my 61 had brass inserts for the buffers to screw into and used fine threaded ones, I've only seen the fine threaded buffers on metal tanks. It also vents from the cap.

I got a chance to to tune the saw and I'm not to happy with the Hyway 272 cylinder. It runs ok but the torque isn't where I think it should be. I'll be raising the transfers a little and cutting a pop up and maybe that will help it out some. I timed it and out of the box I got, ex 100, tr 121, in 74. The way it stands now the intake is at 79 and I widened the exhaust 3mm-4mm.

Update on the 61 with a Hyway 272 cylinder. I did a compression check and got a little over 150psi. I know I didn't do much to the cylinder but a stock 272 would run better than this one. Short video so you can see what I mean.

Picked up this 1990 266xp
I needed the tank and crank but after cleaning it.20200310_150206.jpg
With shower cleaner and 2000 psi of water persuasion.
Other than a missing fin and a snapped off wrap and a piece broke off front of the top cover.
The rest of the saw is in great shape20200317_154408_HDR.jpgunder pounds of cedar and pine sap and chips.20200317_155441_HDR.jpg 20200317_164446.jpgthese are my favorite saws to work on.

Just acquired this 1984 266se for $35. Popped a new Caber in, new upper mounts, spark plug, fuel filter and new sprocket. Runs very sweetly. Will fit perfectly alongside my 288 project.

I've just got a decal set from Sugar Creek for this saw, can anyone tell me exactly where I need to place and orientate the stickers? The main one I'm thinking about is the yellow safety sticker that goes on the top cover but I would be glad of info as to the others as well. Any pics or info that anyone has would be much appreciated.
