Dumb question, can an account tied email address be locked in so it can not be changed without Admin/Mod support?

Dumb question #2, how about mobile phone SMS code validation like PayPal does?

I know that there are people who change phone numbers and email addresses more often than their diapers, but I don't so the above would work for me.

Yes, I change my diapers on a daily basis or whenever I soil them! :p

I assume if I can still get on here I must have done the 2 step correctly?
I first did it on my laptop, then needed to again to log onto my phone and ended up getting 7 verification code emails in a row all with a different code.

I did the email verification and sent the code in.

I see no change. I hope that means that I'm good to go.

I don't use a phone, only a desktop.

Took 6 different codes sent to email to actually log back on. From opening my saved tab, to first email was like 8 minutes… brutal. I think it kept resetting while I was switching tabs to get the code, come back to punch in and it resets again, sending a new code. Rinse repeat.

If we have to do that every 30 days, I don’t think that will keep people around.

I went to the e-mail in a separate window to grab the auth code, doing it a second tab wasn't working for me. YRMV

Did the 2 step process this afternoon. Got the login code. Came back this evening and had to login even though I never logged out. The login code didn't work. Used one of the one time codes to get get logged in.
Hope this isn't going to be a daily thing.

Just got 3 more ope login verification emails in the last 15 minutes. So I logged out of OPE, logged back in and didn't need to use one of the codes that are good for on 15 minutes. The last email said "you recently logged into your account at Outdoor Power Equipment Forum and completed two-step verification via a backup code. A backup code should only be used when you don't have access to another method of verification."
Well using the backup code was the only number that worked???
Hope this isn't going to be a daily thing.

I haven't done the 2-step verification yet and for now I am still logged in.
I guess I'll see whether the process will be made easier and more reliable to do till the end of February.

I am aware that implementation of new software to a Forum is not easy, most likely even more so if it is something security related.
I am also aware that the 2-step verification is being incorporated to make the Forum safer and to protect its members.
That been said, I won't make any complaints - I'll just ride this out and see where it takes me.

I just did my two step verification, and it worked right away. I’m a dummy when it comes to computer stuff, amongst other things, but if I could figure it out I have faith most of you can.

It takes a few minutes for the new settings to take place after you log out. After 10 minutes or so, I tried logging in under the new two-step verification and it worked fine

I just came to OPE to log in and got a message to check my email for my sign in code number.

I went to email and copied the code number and pasted in into the log in page.

I got in fine first try.
