Next time you're up David, remind me and I'll drag out some axes and we can spend a bit jawin' about 'em. It's been a long while since I've felled or limbed a tree with an axe, I could use a brush-up session.

My neighbor has 1 or 2 of those, he swears by them for wedge pounding. The hafts are only ~20" long, but they seem to get the job done pretty well.

I’ve got 28” handle on mine and I get teased about it by the “ 36” or nothin!” Guys.
But I’ve always used 28 and I tend to hurt myself with the 36.

I could try, but I'd bet that would be a polite but emphatic NO. He's had the axe(s?) since at least the 80's when he was working in the tunnels.

Gransfors Brucks American I believe, they weigh about 6lbs give or take as I recall.

Slasher called it, these were sold as stroh ax. By the stroh ( spelling) brothers distributing co. Swedish made Gransfors Bruks (GB.)

I got it because the 28” 5lb vibes pretty good if I don’t hold it at the very end, so I thought maybe longer would be better, and I wanted to try it splitting. Not as good as a fiskars.
