Next time you're up David, remind me and I'll drag out some axes and we can spend a bit jawin' about 'em. It's been a long while since I've felled or limbed a tree with an axe, I could use a brush-up session.

Super curious about that basque style which is what I think BBR is using for his wood bullet.

Ask your neighbor if he wants to get rid of one. We can trade a little tree work, if that might appeal more than cash

I’ve got 28” handle on mine and I get teased about it by the “ 36” or nothin!” Guys.
But I’ve always used 28 and I tend to hurt myself with the 36.

I could try, but I'd bet that would be a polite but emphatic NO. He's had the axe(s?) since at least the 80's when he was working in the tunnels.

Big Brother to the feller showed up. I have something else coming for the handle finish.

Then I saw the 36” 6lb fire axe…doh! Sent to my wife as a hint for my bday or something.

Gets stuck in the nasties I have here.

GF Beranek who wrote Fundamentals of General Tree Work said blue is the best color for an axe in the woods.

So here is Babe the Blue Axe.

My pic doesn’t do it justice, check out Keda blue pics online.
