I just like the history of old tools like axes/hatchets specifically (hammers).

It's just a hobby.
I've kept alot, & sold alot.
My passion comes from hanging axes.
It's a lost art.
I'm down to 22 axes/hatchets.

I have a bit of a hammer fascination myself. I like Warren-Teed hammers and have the same Warren-Teed 10 lb sledge I used as a kid splitting firewood.

They made splitting mauls also.
I have a "Plumb Leader" fascination as I have used one for 20 years.
Most folks wouldn't believe that you can tell a difference in hammers, but I assure you, YOU CAN! Lol

Same with Axes/Hatchets.

Yup, I have a couple of their mauls. I also have multiple 3 lb, 4 lb, 6lb, 8 lb and 10 lb Warren-Teed sledge hammers.

I swing a hammer for a living and do a bit of blacksmithing as well. When a guy swings a hammer every day, you can definitely tell a difference in hammers.

For new hammers I like Vaughan hammers. For the money, they're sure hard to beat.

That would be great to see! I am a hammer nerd, even though my collection isn't big at all.

“so what did you buy today”

Hoping the Madsen’s wedges are harder than KH but not brittle like the Oregon. I see lots of pro fallers like them.

Wood grenade my brother’s buddy had in CO worked well so i got one to try in Euc.

Decent grain on these handles, about $15 from Madsen’s.

I have 2 of the Diamond splitting wedges and started using Estwing sure splits and like them better. Some of the locust I get into, makes the Diamond wedge bounce out of the round I'm splitting.

I think the it important for the wedge taper to get exponentially larger so that it doesn’t just get buried before the round lets go.

I see Whiskey River is selling the new Council Tool Pickeroons. Look pretty decent. Might have to pick a couple up.

The "Axe Gods" shined on me yesterday!
Told a coworker Thursday that I was going to look @ axe handles after work & he said I have some I'd sell you.
He brought em yesterday, 2-26" & 1-18" for $20.
Then I stopped @ a Antique Mall on the way home & scored the old "Fawns Foot" hatchet handle for $4!

Really nice handles by East Coast Lumberjack showed up just now. The two axes are not finish hung yet. Anticipating they will shrink in the desert climate. Axes are 32”, splitter 36”. @chiselbit the splitter just might make a good banger. I will attempt to get some pictures to do them justice later this weekend.

They are wide and flat with huge swells like racing axes.

Soak the head/handle joint in BLO for a few days & minimize "Desert" shrinkage.

We still talking about axes? 🤣

My Bailey’s/Woodland Pro 4lb fallers axe showed up today. Excited to put it to use this season on wedges when needed. Figure I’ll mount it inside the skidder cab so it’s always with me.

That's standard operating procedure for me anymore. Everything I bought was coming loose, but 1 axe. I had a guy tell me to soak them and I had that tighten heads up, without the need to rehang them.
