Here is the Husky 394 I rebuilt with a sub standard chain (all I had to fit the bar for testing other that ripping chain)

Timber was hard

Pinched on me at an odd angle so had to plunge cut it to get back in the cut.
Good saw!.

The other boys had a go and were impressed

Dug out my 066 running the 288 piston. Its also got a new 20" GB titanium bar that was cheaper to buy from America than where they make them next state over to me in Australia.
@Deets066 helped me out as LCS would not post internationally or respond to my emails asking if they could.
I got one of the bars with a chain and Deets offered to square file if so he could see how it held up to Aussie hardwood.
By the angles on the teeth, I think he also wanted to test my saws :)

Chain is amazing. I am really impressed and the other boys I was cutting with were all checking it out.

Later in the day I ended up in a race with an MS660 running a big bore kit and my 066 ate it up.
Ended up standing there tapping my feet pretending to drink a cup of tea while he finished his cut, and I have to say, it was a strong saw. I was surprised how well it went.

Thanks for the chain Deets. I will be studying it to learn how!

Edit: I discovered why the tune kept changing.
I had plugged the muffler front cover with a bit of folded over soft drink can to test the theory in the garage at home and it was slowly melting and bending out of the hole, opening up the muffler as I went

My mate Andrew gave me a bit of a lesson how to mark out for split posts which was great....... I love learning stuff!
We ripped a couple and the rotten things would not split out.
Cranky hard timber and they just would not separate so after half an hour of bashing wedged on to have them fire back out like bullets, we gave up and called it firewood.

I broke out the 10mm 044 I built and ported recently.
Jesus H Christ that thing goes.
Ran it up with its freshly added 2nd side muffler port and it ran at 16000 RPM WOT
My mates jaw dropped.
I added some fuel and it was 4 stroking happily at 15000 so I ran it there.
It didn't even get hot at 15000 RPM and cut........ WOW
My mate was cutting smaller stuff with his MS660 and I handed him the 044 and said, give that a run.
He ran 3 or 4 cuts in 8" timber and he stopped, looked at the saw, looked at me with an amazed look on his face and kept cutting.
After several cuts he handed it back and asked how much I wanted for it.
Another fella that came along was using a Stihl 076 so I offered him a run with it. It smashed through in half the time his 110cc 076 would and he was amazed.
he *s-word the 076 down and wandered off to sharpen his chain after that haha.

AWESOME SAW!!!!!!!!!!!

Never got a video of it though, but I will next time.

We than broke out the 090's to make some noise.
Mine ran of about a dozen cuts and died mid cut. Now wont run. Seems I have an issue to find but I thing something in the carb went wrong as it will start but refuses to rev up

We than went down to the oter end of the property to take down this nasty old tree.
Wide dead fragile branches and a widow maker on top

Our mate Brad has done all the felling courses with the bush fire brigade and had more experience so we elected him to do it.
He dug out his MS880 and took it on.
Hard dry timber.

The tree, ring barked long ago

here a couple more pics the boys sent me from their phones

Had a great day!

Felling the first tree.

The 2100 getting into it with a 42" bar running full comp 404.
It wanted to drag you in.

The timber gave me a hard time here,
I decided to video where the timber had cracked as it hit the ground and it rolled all funny ways plus was just after a fork for was 2 different sections.
Worst cut of the day but gives you an idea of the fun involved when cutting these hard oddly shaped awkward trees once they are on the ground.

Looks like a good day Tony! That chain will get smoother as you sharpen it. The rakers are pretty low out of the box

Mate it was smooth
I think the harder timber buffered it a bit.
Raced a big bore MS660 side by side and I took the thicker part of the log. I'm calling 20% ahead.
I was standing back tapping my foot and stirring my mate waiting for him to finish his cut

Those old beasts are temperemental beasts sometimes, I'm told the same happens with women as they age too ;)

But once you get it ironed out you shouldn't have many problems, I've had a couple of 090 and 070 carbs that just wouldn't run right but a trip through the ultrasonic cleaner sorted them all out.

You just need to get it ported now, last one I did I set squish at about 30 thou, JB welded the decomp shut and flush inside the bore and just did a bit of smoothing, didn't mess with timing but man that thing ripped with the governor disabled!

Edit: oh and for the love of god eat your weetabix and fit a D handle starter!

Wait until after you file it 3 more times. I bet it's faster and smoother.

As long as you hold the file right. Lol
:D
