I recently purchased an 044 that Brad Snelling built entirely from NOS parts in 2013. The thing was only ran once at a get together for a few minutes, then shelved. The only flaws are a chip in the paint and a couple of scratches from shelf wear. It's a 12mm with a slant fin top end and metal tags. Cool, right? The problem is I don't actually know what to do with it. I have a MOFO 440 hybrid, so I don't have a reason to run it. My options are: let it sit, run it anyways, port it and run it, trade it for something ported and fun, or sell it outright. What would you do?
So, hire a publicist. Have him/her right up something showing that this was not just touched by the famous saw builder, Brad Snelling, but actually built by him. Here's photos that Brad took: https://photo.blsnelling.com/Chainsaws/NOS-044-Build/i-rkGSL8d/A
And a message that Brad sent to the PO
I doubt that. They were in the same price range as the 266/268 huskies in the mid to late 80s. My 266xp (‘85) was $535 otd. My 066, in ‘92 was $810, otd…both with 24” bars. Still have the receiptsFairly certain I paid under $500 new in the box at the dealer for 10mm late 80s, back then they were only a work saw with no collector value.
Back in the mid 70s I paid an extra $400 for 4 wheel drive as no one was buying a 4X4 pickup except farmers and loggers.
Seeing as you still have the receipts to look at and not going off a 35 year old recollection.I doubt that. They were in the same price range as the 266/268 huskies in the mid to late 80s. My 266xp (‘85) was $535 otd. My 066, in ‘92 was $810, otd…both with 24” bars. Still have the receipts![]()
Nah, the 810 was with normal tax but with a dealer discount. The 266 was my first new, bought saw in '85. The 44s came out around 1991 in our area. Crew I was on ran 266s, then 268s until the 044s came out. I didn't like the feel of the 44 so stuck with my 266. Then the 066 hit our dealer. One guy bought one...I tried it..bought mine the next daySeeing as you still have the receipts to look at and not going off a 35 year old recollection.
what was the original price of the saw without the tax OTD and price of the 24" bar? could it have been perhaps under $500 given the $36 price difference not to mention regional pricing.
Nah not the 066 that you bought in 92. The pre tax price on the $535 OTD of the 266 which you said was comparable in price of the 044 at the time.Nah, the 810 was with normal tax but with a dealer discount. I guy was busting my nuts the other day on the price of a new 661. I pointed out the 9.03% tax. ...........He was a FB moron tire kickerThat was back before Cali had their 10% tax![]()
Who cares what the dealers price was, they have to make money.Cool to know! has nothing to do with my question of what the dealers price was on PHO
What state allows such unless they are farm tax exempt or buying for resale? If they are bought for resale the sales tax must be paid on the sale. I am farm tax-exempt but it does not apply to saws. Many states do not require the collection of sales taxes for items shipped but of course Stihl items cannot be shipped so taxes must be paid.Maybe he using the example of some business dont have pay tax onproducts, they have a tax exemption for purchases , there is a state issued tax exemption # they get just because they have a business.
Glad I do not live in Mpls, does living in Illinois equate to the same as living in Chicago?Who cares what the dealers price was, they have to make money.
By the way the Minneapolis commie tax is 9.03% and yes that has to be paid...............
