I was in the same boat as you awhile ago about buying specialty tools. I bought a bunch of tools cause I figured this CAD thing isn't going away anytime soon. Makes the job so much easier and faster. Whenever I would sell a saw I would take the profit and buy some tools. Now I'm looking at buying a lathe and tooling for it. Yeah I have it bad..... REAL BAD. lol.

I could build the bar mount style pretty easy. It's seems that style is putting a lot of stress on the studs in a direction they weren't designed to.
The bar mount style can open and close the case , the c style can only open

I believe the bar mount style is about 25 bucks on fordf150's site. I built my own c-clamp style and it didn't take very long. If you don't have the tools to cut steel getting one from glock37 is probably the way to go.

if this tool like in the picture or similar is only 25 $ order me 5 pieces

This is the tool I was referring to. I see now it's only for 545 through 562 huskys and their jonsered counterparts. For $24 and change I'll probably buy one.

Panteliss, That Stihl tool looks like it would be easy to copy.

Yes this tool is produced for husky 545 though 562 , but if you go to a milling machine you can open the plate and then can fit and many more models
the stihl tool is very easy to copy

I've never once used a tool to split cases, just heat and a deadblow hammer.

The intake is giant! I'm porting one as we speak.
I would be curious to know what numbers you end up at, if you want to share that is.

So I went ahead and made a bar mount splitter. It's crude, my welds look horrible, but it worked like a charm. I put just a little tension on the crank and heated the case up. Wasn't long before it went pop and I was able to finish pushing it apart. I heated the other side and it came right out with a whack from a rubber hammer.image.jpeg

I finished disassembling everything and gave it a bath in dawn dish soap. Didn't get to overly detailed with it as its a firewood saw. Put it all in the shop under the heater to dry out till I get back around to putting everything together.

Did you degree the ports before you tore it down? I find it helpful in analyzing what I want to change. If you intend to delete the gasket then raise everything back to where it was having the pre-tear down numbers help with that plan too.
