LOML bought 18 large eggs last week for a buck. We don't buy butter very often. Could be that there are more dairy cows running around Illinois. Nebraska is the beef state. I can get ground beef for under $2 a pound. Corn beef went for $2.50 around mid-March.

Well $1 for 18 is 66 cents a dozen. They were well over $2/doz. You made reference to increasing food prices in post 59. Actually food prices have been dropping some very dramatically. There are many reasons causing it

The green energy pushers say ethanol blended fuel is better for the environment. But they forget it takes energy to make and blend ethanol. So how green is it really

Just paid 3.70 / gallon near Cincinnati Ohio. It's worth not worrying about rubber dissolving in the equipment!!

So it does not take energy to import oil?
So it does not take energy to refine oil?

Green....as in greenbacks..

That must be those same greenbacks I have been accused of taking for"crop expansion" or is it the same I am accused of taking for "intensive Fall tillage". Heck maybe it is the free fuel I am accused of getting

Well you need to phone them again. If their 100LL they are putting in planes has ethanol in it there are going to be a lot of pissed off and possibly dead pilots. Ethanol has it's place but it sure as hell is not in a plane. I have a feeling they were "blowing you off"

You sure do defend ethanol. I'm sorry I don't support what seems like you have $ in. It's effects cost more money and wasted energy on its effects to rubber and aluminum parts to name only 2. I avoid it every chance I get.

Well if you have read what I have typed I do not whole-hardheartedly defend ethanol. As I have said it has it's place and does not have a place in some applications.

You say you avoid it at every chance which is your choice. There is nothing wrong with that choice. The problem is the mis-information typed by many in regards to ethanol as well as many other things. I am a firm believer in if you type or speak something you should be able to back it up.

I would love to see some facts added to some of the statements presented in this thread. My banker would also

There just isn't any defending corn liquor as a motor fuel. Sorry. It's a net energy loss to distill the crap, it eats rubber and plastic fuel system parts, and draws water to the fuel system. If I can't drink the crap, I sure as hell won't feed it to my expensive machines. Now, as an occasional additive to the intake path of wild women everywhere I can get behind the stuff. And if I needed a government subsidized market for my grain I guess I might change my tune. Wait......no way. Let those free markets spin.:godsdrink0nw:

What are you currently paying for a gallon of milk out in you area of Nebraska?
I blew the original price quote I dug up for milk in Nebraska. Sorry about that. The actual price this week is $1.70 a gallon, not $3.40. Usually it's about $1.80 a gallon. LOML wanted me to be sure that I posted the correct price, not a 100% error.

It's nice having an administrative secretary watching your back now and then.

I wasn't aware twisters hit Illinois recently. Usually they wait until May in Illinois and here to unleash their fury. Biggest one ever in Nebraska was on May 22, 2004. Most damaging in Omaha was about 19 years earlier.

I am not sure what part of that statement is ambiguous. I am always happy to clarify, if necessary.

The statement you made

............... If I can't drink the crap, I sure as hell won't feed it to my expensive machines. .....................

I asked you if that means you drink what you put in your expensive machines

The statement you made.

..............And if I needed a government subsidized market for my grain I guess I might change my tune. Wait......no way. Let those free markets spin.:godsdrink0nw:

I asked you to explain

You responded

I am not sure what part of that statement is ambiguous. I am always happy to clarify, if necessary.

Well I guess I will ask a clearer question. Are you trying to say that I am receiving a government payment for the grain I produce?

Is that like the free fuel and hogwash about deep tillage another made reference to
