I wasn't aware twisters hit Illinois recently. Usually they wait until May in Illinois and here to unleash their fury. Biggest one ever in Nebraska was on May 22, 2004. Most damaging in Omaha was about 19 years earlier.

There have been tornadoes in both Iowa and Illinois this spring. Here is a news clip
http://addins.kwwl.com/blogs/weather/2017/03/march-tornadoes-in-iowa
Here is another that talss about the one taht hit our house in Muscatin IA
http://wqad.com/2017/03/07/severe-storm-damage-reported-in-downtown-muscatine/

We have some rental houses in Iowa and Illinois. One that is in Muscatine IA got hit hard. It took out all the trees. It took off the roof and through the kids bedroom stuff out. It also put the trees on top of 4 of four cars. The good thing is not a soul was injured

Bill,
None of my comments in the original post were about you in any way. Simply expressing an informed opinion about why ethanol is detrimental to machinery and ultimately the environment. All government support of the ethanol industry (fuel mandates, oxygenated fuel rules, tax incentives to purchase ethanol etc.) constitute a type of subsidy for the grain markets that provide raw material for distilling ethanol. And in case you were wondering, I drink neither grain alcohol nor any gasoline blends. I know....my life is boring.

Today, 1 lb butter (454 grams) - $5.99 Loonies = $4.50 Yankee dollars.
4 liters milk = $7.29 Loonies, 1.o56 US gallons, so $US 5.16 per US gallon.

This mostly due to government marketing boards that give the old boys a monopoly, which is why I'm voting for Maxime Bernier for our next Prime Minister.

Well they way your post was written indicated differently. As I have said in the past I will gladly debate the positives and negatives of Ethanol. I have a issue when folks post opinions as fact. There have been several of those in this thread. Many related to a subsidy that does not exist. Yes there have been subsidies in the past right or wrong they have existed. If you would like to debate subsidies then I will also debate that. Let's take a look at all the industries that receive government assistance. I will say it is my opinion that darn near every member here has received a subsidy directly ot indirectly. A classic is the guy that starts to complain about ethanol and farming in general. They say "I don't need no damm government assistance" I chuckle as I ask "Didn't you take your old van in under the cash for clunkers deal" They quickly change the subject

There is no doubt the prices in Canada are different

I just received a distinct statement from a logger (Andy) running his own company: "I will never use ethanol or any blend for a fuel mix in any chainsaw that is ever used by my company."

Andy has 25 years experience operating his own logging company and using dozens of professional chainsaws. Before he said this, I had just told him that I had used 10% ethanol on occasion but would never use 15% or higher. So, there you have it.

Well I will say once again I have not debated nor defended the use of Ethanol in OPE. Please show me where I have said it is good for OPE? I will defend misinformation presented regarding Agriculture

Do you feel farmers in PA have received subsidies?
Do you purchase ethanol based fuel in PA?
Have you are your offspring attended a public school?

I just called the airport. They said they didn't know if the fuel they sold was ethanol-free. They asked me what I was doing with it and when I told them they said they don't sell fuel to people who are not using it for aircraft.

Wow you should move out of California lol. I've bought it before at our local airport with no problem, but I used to fly and know all of them there so that may have helped.

There's a lot of things I don't like about this state and ethanol free fuel availability is now on that list.

There's plenty to like about California too.

Well if they do not know then they are full of poop as no airplane is going to have ethanol blended fuel in it. As for them telling you it is only sold to pilots I believe that but remember follow the don't ask don't tell policy. I have heard of guys having to give a tail number before

Pretty laid back in Illinois despite what some may think. The neighbor used to have three planes. He had a decent grass runway but he passed on so it is plowed up now. Several have or have had helicopters also. One used to give rides (paid) at the local town celebration and give the money to volunteer fire department. A pissing match occurred one year and that ended

Yeah I've seen a few grass runways in people's back yards with experimental planes. I remember a guy that built a gyrocopter that would come to the airport and try and fly it. It would mess up in some way, so he would take it back home work on it for like 6 months and then try again lol.

So what is the reason behind only selling fuel to pilots? I would think they would sell fuel to anyone with money to pay.
