Looks great. I always wanted to give chainsaw carving a try.
Not my creation.
A guy I met today, but supposedly know from high school did that.
He will get his own tools to finish the owl sculpture, says angle grinder with rasp wheel is the best way to go about it.
A village resident agreed to supply a genny to see the sculpture get finished.

Making a bar top for the neighbors grain bin gazebo at their wedding barn. 3 spruce burls with black walnut bow ties. Just needs the spar urethane today.

That looks nice now. Would like to see after the urethane also. Thanks for sharing.

I’ll put some up after I get the spare urethane on, probably will end up epoxy coating it but couldn’t buy any uv stable outside epoxy locally so varithane water base spar it is. Spray cans for edges and brush top and bottom, water base dries fast so i can put 4-5 coats on today.

How well would tung oil or teak oil work for those base coats. I know they both really make the grains pop nicely.

I used teak oil on the oak and maple inside the barn for the drink rails that ran down both sides.
I used teak on thaws so they didn’t get to dark inside the barn to make grain show better

Well it’s done and in place, the neighbor is lucky we are buddies because he got a heck of a trade. Should have gone for a 1/2 a cow instead of just a 1/4.

Alaskan food cache up on 16 ft legs. All milled spruce and some scrap roofing. Filled it with 2000 lbs of shelf-life dry goods. Food is good till year 2051. Still have to "bear-proof" the legs with metal.

Started milling the white oak today. Was tough going, needed my neighbor to help out with his little Kuboda as I could not get the log I wanted to mill on top of the pile.

His machine also had trouble moving it, but we got it done!

Was tough finding a piece of white oak that was straight for 10 feet! All these limbs are from a yard tree, and the trunk was so large they had to cut it short to lift it!

I also ran 2 saws I have not run in quite some time (I keep using my ported 462s instead). But both my 10 mm 044 and my Dr. Al ported 360 ran great!

The milling was done with my 066 with the Cross P+C. It is the saw in the HL Supply video for the Cross P+C.

Got the alaskan birch flooring in. Still have to sand and seal with teak oil. Most was milled with a ported cs 6700 using 3/8 lp. One giant birch was milled with a ported cs 1201 with .404 cutters at 10 degrees.

After drying for 5-6 months, I planed it from 1.5" to 1.3". Edged it with a hand planer, beveled with a 60 degree router bit. I guess the flooring guys call this "wide plank flooring" and charge 2-3 times more than hardwood flooring.

Torx screws countersunk every 2 feet.
Towards the end of the flooring(last 5.5 ft), I switched to spruce that hasn't been planed because that area will be covered by a wood stove, staircase and a firewood rack.
