You can't do it that easy with quality brand new and as new chains.
Be very cautious if You try doing that!

A completely worn streched loop is Your best bet.

I work on several friends saws per year and the things that are the worst is not ever cleaning a saw and using ethanol gas, sometimes with oil mixed in and sometimes not..

Fuel stabilizer is a must with corn gas, and I think you are wise to use it with full dino gas as well. My two stroke fuel gets a full ounce of Star Tron or Stabil Marine per gallon.

I use a little seafoam in mine now and then. Has a fuel stabilizer in it and it seems to work well on a lot of my small engine stuff. Anybody else use it in ope?

A buddy called me one day and asking why his new Stihl smoked so much. Said he mixed the gas 50-50 like it says on the bottle and couldn’t believe how much it smoked. After enlightening him it says 50:1 it ran much better. Don’t think the bugs bothered him much that day tho

There’s the reason canned gas is a thing other than long term storage

He mixed it right in the tank. It was the most of one of the little bottles.
Here’s another one that was pretty funny, buddy decides the fire I built was taking off fast enough so brings out his saw to dump the bar oil on it and get er rippin. Except he gets mixed up and dumps the saw gas on it instead, trails up and into the gas tank lighting an echo 310 on fire
