I don't remember seeing it in the 97 Catalog I forgot at dad's house last year. It may have left the north american market earlier like so many saws did.

Husqvarna produced some models much longer than what they marketed. For the Eastern Bloc countries, for example, 242 were produced until at least 2001. It would not be a surprise if some of the same was done with 42 specials.

That's definitely 95. I believe 95 was the last year for the 42.

My father bought a brand new in 1998. From what I know 42 special were produced until 2001 the same like 242 xp

I have picture of your 242 xpg from 2000 - 38 week. Chain was from Sweden or Finland As I remember correctly.

The two holes at 10 oclock and 4 oclock should be threaded. Just put a screw in each hole and jack the pump up off the crankcase.
