@Czed - on your 266, if you want the case idle adjustment to work again, you can swap the throttle shaft from your old 266 carb or appropriate tillotson with case idle style shaft. I did it recently on my last build. Great looking saws! That is weird the throttle link is gone completely, I have had them stick to the magnet on the flywheel before.

Ordered from here:

Made by these guys in Serbia:

Worked out to about $36US/$49CAD shipped each.
They are proper fiberglass reinforced plastic like OEM, not cheap crap that breaks when you look at it like some of the chinesium 268/272 covers I have had.

We all were hoping this day would come, surely thought it would have been from China and not the Eastern Bloc, but happy dance nonetheless…

Pretty much 10 business days to me in central Canada, a friend of mine in Maine had them in 10 days total.

Wow!..... @82f100swb - thank you so much for sharing that!! I just ordered one to have on hand.

I never thought the day would come. Prices in the past 6 months have gone really crazy for them on ebay, even for the rough busted up ones.

.......and just like that - all around the world, shrieks of disparage could be heard by hoarders of 266 top covers.
Just like the 288xp, plenty are gonna sh¡t mouth it because its no longer "rare" and worth its weight in gold. Half the time I think some guys would rather see a saw go to scrap then use an aftermarket part.

The knob adjusts in or out to adjust the gap between the knob head and the front handle. The farther out the knob, the closer it is to the handle and the easier it will trip when levering the saw into the cut.

My 266 top cover came in from overseas. I honestly had forgotten I bought this!

The quality is really really good. The color is a little off, but that is fine with me. The originals are too. If a person really cares, they can be painted very successfully and be very durable with the right paint ( use catalyst hardener) .

It feels stronger than oem and is slightly heavier. See scale pics....now keep in mind, I am repairing / refinishing the 266 cover in the comparison photos, but I just wanted to show the shape is 100% spot on. It does need the hot air hole plugged, but that is nbd.
