I personally wouldn’t use a saw to dig into wood. Maybe a spoon but never a saw. What do they go for in good condition out there?
Put a new bar, chain and sprocket on it, will keep the originals for dirty work or stumping. Going to wait for the weather to cool down (35-40 Celsius all week) then go dig it into some wood!

We rarely see unused/lightly used saws here so to answer your question they go for just under what new price is. A new 661 is $1590 US plus the 7% communist tax. That brings it to $1701.30. Doing the conversion that equates to $2718.18 AUS. In my opinion a near new 660 here would be in the $1200-$1300 US range or $1917-$2077 AUS.What do they go for in good condition out there?

I do not disagree but just think of what they cost in the late 1950's compared to what folks made back then.that is a stupid amount of money far a chainsaw
Oh yeah that’s very similar to here, just saw one for $1800 and it’s the middle of summer lol.We rarely see unused/lightly used saws here so to answer your question they go for just under what new price is. Folks pay up for a 660 over a 661Oh yeah that’s very similar to here, just saw one for $1800 and it’s the middle of summer lol.
Yep the same here! I’d take a 660 over a 661 just a better built machine all round.Folks pay up for a 660 over a 661
And…you burned off that big breakfastCycled 6 miles to pick up a fs55 for $50 non running. 3 miles there and 3 miles back carrying the machine. Needed a carb kit and now runs great. View attachment 447973
Nicely done.Put some parts away, fixed the recoil starter on the Jonsereds 52E, sharpened 10 chains for a customer, and decided it was time to fix the eccentric clamp on the chain grinder used for depth gauges (lime green one). Red one has a 3/16" wheel for 3/8 and .404 chain, blue one has a 1/8" wheel for 3/8LP and .325 chain.

In the original configuration, a snap ring holds the clamp in place.

The pivot and the I.D. of the eccentric were quite worn.

I turned the pivot down and installed a brass bushing over it. Since I cut the pivot a few thousandth too small, I use the knurling tool to "swell" it a bit for a good snug fit. I drilled the eccentric to fit the bushing, the used some emery cloth on a mandrel to achieve a nice slip fit.

Initially I used a snap ring and a couple of washers to hold the clamp in place, but decided I could improve the fit and action if I used a slightly oversize washer and a screw to hold the clamp in place. The clamping action is so much better than it was with the worn parts.
