Finally got all the tools and junk off the chainsaw workbench and on the wall. Time to stick a new recoil rope in the trusty 066 on a workbench that has literally never been cleaner since the day it moved into the loft.

I got a new hobby. Designing speakers. There's porting and problem solving and strategizing to get the performance you want. It's a lot easier with simulators. If only there were chainsaw porting simulators to adjust port parameters with a few clicks and see the predicted dyno graphs. Don't even have to know much about crossovers, just tinker around until it looks good.

How do you clean saw parts? What product?
I use dollar Store "Totally Awesome " for most parts. Aluminum gets cleaned in water, Dawn and liquid Tide in the big sonic tank. Sm pts in the little HF tank with TA.
For the really nasty saws I pressure wash on the lawn. We are at permafrost stage now so can't do that :p
Some parts get done with brake clean an some with carb cleaner (not rubber).
I also have 2 5-gal buckets, 1 half full of TA and the other empty. Some parts need days soaking to get pitch and encrusted crap to come off. Pour liquid into the empty bucket and take the cleaned bucket full on the lawn to hose off. Can't do that now so use another bucket to rinse as well as possible. Final rinse in my big utility sink :p
All this is mainly for full tear-down like yesterday.
For saws not getting disassembled I sometimes use gasoline. Saw in a large plastic bin, gas in a squirt bottle. Filter and reuse...

I thought today was a good day to clean up this mess. The log that is under the far one was on top of the closest one. Somehow when I cut the piece off laying there the other limb flew up into my you know whats. I don’t know how it had pressure the way it did. I was standing over it dumb if slip on shoes and thin Duluth pants. I almost smacked that echo laying there and probably could have ended up pretty tore up. I was half standing half squatting with the saw in a bad position. Be safe…

Tangles like that can be tough to read. I always take a few minutes to look them over and try to figure out all the different forces involved before I make the first cut, but even then I still guess wrong sometimes. Glad you're okay!
