How well does you tensioner work? Does the screw that holds the bar plate on fit with the bar? I'd go full skip over 24" for better chip clearance & feeding and faster sharpening.
The first tensioner stripped the gears because there was too much slop between the shaft and case. Hutzl sent a new one and I shimmed it to fit, works fine now. I built this year's ago, I don't remember any trouble with the bar plate. I had a 25" bar on it. I bought the 36 years ago, finally decided to put it on. Haven't cut with it yet. I took the 25 off because I have an 044 coming in the near future that I'm gonna use it on. Thinking about selling this 660. It runs really good but it's just about too much for my old body. I put a lot of time in building it.

last nights project was this Plumb axe my Dad had laying around that needed a new handle & was rusted to hell.

media blast/wire wheeled it, a couple coats of Perma Blue & oiled it down. I think it turned out decent for what little time I put into it.

I went to see what Perma Blue was 😉 And I also found Super Blue which is 2x more expensive 😎

still had a partial tube leftover from a few saw bars/tips I did a while back. its easy to work with & fairly cheap.
