I also fixed my tape measure - I was measuring out a spot for a new shed, I pulled it past its max measuring length and the small tab broke, but I brazed it back lol, it’s the challenge for me rather than the 5 dollars for another lol.

Well $5 in Australia is $3.27 here and you damn sure will not replace a Milwaukee branded tape measure here for $3.27.

Pulled some of the home garden garlic. 4 different varieties this year.

And I'm still getting a few Blueberries 2-3x a week.
About a pint and a half today.

Just looked at the onions, @ 94f it got a bit warm to be playing around in the dirt in an area with total sun.

We've got an issue with cats that a pair of neighbors let loose for hours at a time.
Even with 2'-3' wide/tall poultry wire around them the next critter gets to them, that being tree rats.
Lots of digs near many plants.
Oh well, now we plant 2-3x what we think we'll be able to use, can always give some away if the harvest goes better than expected.

I’m doing saw repair work on the park fire in Chico at the moment. Had 5 saws come in today 3 with cooked top ends. One was a 500i that looked like it’d been eating dirt. I replaced the top end but managed to get the fuel lines mixed up when I reassembled. I spent about half an hour trying to figure out how so much fuel could be getting into the crankcase so quickly .

At this point I’d expect most crews to get with the program and run 462s with 28” bars as crew saws now that a lot of the 1128s are out of the service, and have a few 661s around with longer bars for C fallers in bigger timber/saw modules.

The 500’s air filter makes it almost useless for fire cutters because they eat so much dirt… In the dustiest, dirtiest environment imaginable.

But Cal Fire keeps buying them, at significantly higher cost than a 462. It just keeps showing out and the joke keeps proving the joke true that when they were California Department of Forestry we said CDF really was an acronym for Can’t Do Fire.

Nice!

We planted out almost 300 garlic, and the gophers decimated them. Harvested a total of 12 puny, possibly useless bulbs. We planted out 90 onions, and the gophers let us have about 20. Been a bad gopher year. They were pushing up the Euphorbias (gopher-plant, specifically) so they couldn't root.

Good luck with getting the gopher issue under control.

We planted a bit over 150 pieces. So far there were very few jumbo bulbs. Lucky for us, the closest gophers have been about 1/8 mile away.

This is a cal fire incident but I haven't seen a single 462 yet..... so far i've seen
6 372xps
3 461's
2 500i's
1 362

one guy brought in a 461 yesterday that looked beautiful, like barely used. they couldn't get the E clip off on sprocket. I started looking at it and realized that one of them had tried to cut chaps with it. the fiber had bound under the sprocket washer so tight I ended up cutting off the E clip with a dremel!

What kind of wire and burner do you have?
I use a bernzomatic ts8000. The map/pro cans they sell cost $20 AUD here, it’s ridiculous, so I ordered an adapter so I can refill them from a larger container. I’ll take the 70 Celsius less in temperature between MAP/pro and propane and refill it 9 times more for the same price. It’s deceptive marketing calling it MAP/pro when it’s essentially the same heat…

We have a can with a 7/16" EN 417 thread and I also use filling adapters

I just hand drilled 600 holes open from 3.0mm to 3.5mm.
The mesh was too fine for shredding corn and wheat, made flour.
Deburing and then testing it, repeat if still too fine.

Wilhelm - if you can equip your mill with an inverter and vary the speed you will have much greater control over the finished particle size. Too low of RPM and the hammers (beaters) and pins will begin to wear from rocking.
