I thought the extra magnets was to generate some in the coil for operation, no?

With these new saws, the magnets probably align the guide bar with magnetic North, so the GPS function can direct remote cutting.

They have magnets 180° apart on the flywheel. The non-mtron saws have steel inserts in the same places rather than magnets.
