One more shootout discussion: 288xp vs 390xp

I have a 281 that MMWS put a 288 jug on and it really rips. Never had a chance on a 390xp

I played around a little bit with my 390 this winter. Did a little more port work. It still needs a new pto side seal, inner bucking spike, and piston. This is a test run with a hammered piston that still makes spec. Still not bad for how it is.

I got a chance to put this 288 build on the bench to get stock numbers tonight before bedtime. I should have it ready to run by late afternoon tomorrow/today, as long as I don't stab myself in the face with my grinder.

Jim, that 390 sounds stout. I can see why people say it's a 372 on steroids, sounds just like a 372 but with a deeper tone. Good catch on the tune

If you don't mind sharing, what are the stock numbers on that 288?

108-126-70 without gasket, .020 squish.

Ha ha ha! And I'll say that in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voice...lol! But in all reality he's pumped I'm getting a 288.

I'll be watching and might be ready to see if I can work out a deal with you on a builder.

Like we were talking about last night, I'd like to see how our modded 372s stack up against the stock 288. Once we play around with that, break out the burrs!!

I wish I could speak more to how it runs but I only had it for 6 days I think.lol. I ended up with more into it then I planned. Husqvarna just increased the price on there parts again.

I'll post a video once I give it a once over on the bench. Who am I kidding, I'll probably take it to the log pile as soon as my throttle spring arrives

That spring isn't necessary to run it, the top trigger doesn't effect it.

Then it's settled, I'll be running it as fast as I can put a bar on it and fill the tanks.
