Here's a video of the winch working on a slab!
The two others are tree climbing buddy's. They were using a double ended Canon bar with dual 395's. They were making great slabs off the butt end until they hit metal!Yeh sub'd to your channel an got a.notification, so who else was milling with the hoosky in the background
Thanks Joe!Sweet slabs Dan!
Thanks Joe!
Thinking something relatively simple for the first project. Saw some nice live edge tables with steel U shape legs. Might try one if i can find two slabs that mirror each other. No problem. What do have in mind for the slabs? The possibilities are endless!
Good to know! This tree was taken down a few months ago so maybe the bark will stay?Just a thought if you ever want to make a true live edge with the bark on it cut the tree down in the winter time. As long as it's a healthy tree the bark will stay on as it dries and won't come off!
That's what my neighbor told me anyways. He's a carpenter and furniture builder.
What method are you gunna use for joining the slabs?I talked to a guy that has a kiln and is firing it up in a week or two. Waiting to hear a price for the kiln. He has room for some of my slabs in it. I'm hoping to get back and mill the last two logs on Sunday or Monday. The closer one with the red dot is the one that I'm thinking I can get the two slabs from the middle and do the book matched table. I was thinking 2.25 to 2.5" for the table? Does that sound like a good thickness?
Haven't gotten that far yet. Have a couple buddies that are into wood working so ill follow their lead. Any suggestions? What method are you gunna use for joining the slabs?
Last time I did anything of that sort was freshman year in shop class with biscuit joint and wood glue. LolHaven't gotten that far yet. Have a couple buddies that are into wood working so ill follow their lead. Any suggestions?
Ya thats what I was thinking I would do. The guy with the kiln runs a Lucas mill and builds a lot of furniture. Ill pick his brain also!Last time I did anything of that sort was freshman year in shop class with biscuit joint and wood glue. Lol
