Not sure which manufacturers have autotune other than Stihl and Husqvarna... but if you are now a fan of autotune, why? What convinced you or what do you find superior? (Never ran an autotune saw.)

EDIT: When I wrote 'autotune,' I meant autotune or mtronic or whatever each manufacturer calls their version.

Husqvarna is autotune, Stihl is mtronic. Does the same thing just different names. I only have one autotune, Husqvarna 545. I like it alot, always in tune, compensates for air filter getting dirty.

Just a tach and a little screw driver... I don't cut without them. But I don't mind Autotune or Mtronic though.

Less chance of burning a cylinder
Always at peak performance

I can also tell you why I hate it if you wish

I love auto tune and Mtronic saws. The only caveat of the husky autotune is the inability to reset it in the field like you can with Mtrons.
Yes i forgot about that. There is a reset video for autotune showing a guy putting the bar in wood at mid throttle or something for 90 seconds...
this is more like a “re-learn” not a “reset”

it would be nice to have it actually “reset” to out of the box idle/fuel adjustment and go from there

The caveat with mtronic is the solenoids are sensitive to contamination. Though that’s less of a problem with the newer versions. I hated the mtronic on a 441, but I like it on a 462. More refined setup on 462.

I've never had to have a reset on any of my autotune saws gen 1 or 2 . What makes them need this reset

Ohh lets see

Cant see your own diagnostics!
If you buy the diagnostic module to even try, software is not available! Only for dealers. If you go and ask for said software, husqvarna corporate gives ya a call demanding their hardware back... now thats another story!

adjustment from hot to cold weather is poor

did i mention hot starts suck?

K. Im ready for a ton of people to start throwin chit!

AutoTune and canned fuel means I know the saw will start regardless of how long its been sitting. OK, that's more the fuel than the saw but the AT makes it almost foolproof.

My 545 starts fine hot as long as you set the high idle. It does have a slight bog when you pull the throttle, but it's only like a millisecond, but it's still kind of annoying.

I'm glad I don't own one of these tuner free nightmares
Like i said, love hate relationship.

first gen autotune really left a bad taste in mouth. When you go to pick up a saw and gotta go through the hoops to get it going, is a serious buzz kill. I pick up my original edition 372 more than the 562 all the time.

ill probably end up owning a 572 at some point cause all i hear are good things. But this time im gonna sit back and wait a bit and hear what this forum has to say over the next six months regarding it.

Having added quite a few Mtronic and AT saws in my collection the past couple of years, I have to say, if I was making my living with a saw, I doubt I'd buy anything else. One of the problems with knowledge is it can actually get in your way, constantly listening to your saw making sure it's in tune, gets annoying. With an auto adjusting saw, you just grab it and cut, no messing around. I think some just have a hard time moving on, but when one really get some experience on one of these saws, I don't see anyone going back, other than just being plain old stubborn.

My $.02

I feel like at or mt are band aid fixes on the way to fuel injection, kinda like the cars of the 80s . The struggle to keep the epa happy was difficult for the automakers until they bit the bullet and went total FI.
There's really no comparison between a electron controlled carburetor in a car and FI .
