@Boomer2230 - nice! You did good for 60. Yea thats the later af setup. I call it the two screw style. Not sure if that's the correct term. Carb rebuild kit for that Tillotson is a RK-23HS.

Ive replaced a ton of throttle plates and shafts on carburetors, I have found for perfect placement of the plate you want to back the throttle stop off all the way and lightly set the screw in the shaft so you and still move the plate.
Hold the choke open and peer through the venturi, when all of the light is blocked by the plate around the edges evenly tighten the screw.
You may have too repeat this process because torquing the screw can move the plate .

@davidwyby - I have cornered the market on two screw airfilters in order to force a trade between the top cover horders. ( insert evil laugh)

Joking aside, I do have a spare one I would let go.

Picked up a carb kit today, going to try and put it in. This will be my first try at a rebuild.

@Boomer2230 - Good! These carbs aren't difficult to work on. There are some gaskets in the carb kit that you won't use, just an FYI. If you want, snap some pics as you dissemble, that way you can refer back to how the gaskets stack together, if needed. There are a bunch of vids on that specific "hs" tillotson carb if needed as well. Good luck!

I have been wanting to for at least a month! Lol.

My search for the later grey/black top or a 266 top has come up with nada so far. The two screw style wont fit under these early white tops unfortunately. If you know of any around (grey/black 61 top or 266 top)....help a guy out?!
I need 3 266 topcovers myself
I'm going to butcher some 5.00 china 268/272 covers to fit
You only have to add an additional front fastener hole to make then work.

Dang it that's not good news! It's funny how you can find 30 flywheels for these on ebay right now and maybe one beat up cover.

That is a good idea. I don't mind adding another front fastener hole or cutting up a cheap top, it's the plastic mismatch that would bug me. I might give it a try though to see for myself. Would be a cheap experiment either way.

She fired up after a few pulls but ran a bit rough, I'm going to take it apart again and have another look at it.

@Maintenance Chief - thanks! I actually picked one up for 4 bucks shipped a few days ago. Found a super good deal....if only 266 or grey 61 tops were that easy.

@Johnmn - Hey thanks I'd take one for sure. Especially because if I can't find a later top cover for my new build, I'll have to use my other early white top which is single screw af only. Il send a pm tomorrow morning.

Looks like I have 5, one is used, the two on the left are thicker by about 50%. I'll have to do some part number research.

@Johnmn Those look slightly different. Might be for an early 50? Not sure. Here is a pic of mine.

Got my girl up and running great, it turns out I forgot to clean the inside of the gas tank when cleaning everything else, should have known better.
Sounds good and has a nice snap.
Only problem now is its not oiling the bar, but I'm going to start my own thread on that.
Thanks for the info on the kit. Looks to be the same carb on my old 162. Got some finishing touches to do to it now...lol
