Heck, even harley uses parts from overseas.
They sure do but that don't make them bad parts.
Here is the thing, everyone makes good stuff, what you choose to export might be another thing. Quality control that goes beyond the factory matters. My suppliers send me good parts, mostly. If you find a problem a good supplier they can fix it or refund and stop stocking it. Flukes can occur but not repeatedly. I am my own quality control and usually the end users best bet.

They do make OEM parts I won't use. Better can be had most times occasionally cheaper for one reason or another. Price times service time also matters. Taiwan is known for exporting quality and many other places around the globe.

I'm with you there. The farmertec stuff has way too many variables for it to be anything more than for a hobbiest. There is way too many missing, broken or defective parts for it to be a business. I took care putting one together and sold it and it had issues shortly after. The guy I sold it to wasnt mad or anything because, I told him exactly what it was and certain issues may arise.

Blunstone boots (a local Tassie company)
went to China a few years ago.
Refuse to buy their boots now.Only buy Aussie made boots although dearer.
Thing is Blunstone are still the same price as when done in Tassie, that's what s#%ts me.
Exactly, if I'm forced to buy Chinese made goods, in absence of any other goods, I better be paying Chinese prices.

Do you work on bikes too? I stopped riding by the time the new baby Harley's came on the market. The reviews were less than stellar on the Taiwan bikes.

Part of the problem is that (as an example) Stihl parts just got ridiculously expensive, creating a market for knock off parts.

If non Chinese companies did not try to "gouge" you, the Chinese market would not be so strong.

I put several MS 440 and MS 460s back in service because Chinese tank holders, plastic covers and Meteor pistons were available. Otherwise, the cost of replacement parts was not feasible.

Chinese saws also provided me with a low cost way to experiment and learn a little about porting.

So my parts i ordered from hywayparts.com.... they never sent me a tracking number and I have sent them multiple emails and no response. I ended up filing a claim on PayPal to try to get my money back. Just fyi for those of you who might try to order something from them...

I have had my G660 for two years now. It was ship direct to me assembled. It’s has seen 40-50 tanks and maybe 30 or so milling. It can pull full house ripping chain through 42” tulip poplar crotch on a 52” bar. I pulled the muffler off and took a peak at the cylinder and it looked amazing no carbon no scuffs practically brand new. Muffler was missing a bolt and gasket. Tensioner has been replaced might have been my fault. Mounts seem floppier than I remember new. Ran 25:1 Stihl oil for the first 2 gallons. Now I’m running 37:1 semi synthetic (Lucas??). I have not touched the carb. It might be running a bit rich I have a new tach I just never have broken it out. I definitely have gotten every penny out of it. I may have cooked the 36” hard nose holtzforma bar. Will find out latter this week.
Evan.

Order some AM ones on line, I have had very few problems with them ... mostly just installation mistakes on my part.

I've had good luck with the Farmtech ones, both the ones that come with the kits, and replacements I've ordered in case I screw one up during assembly.

They used to come pre installed in the cases, with the bearings. Not sure if they still do, but that makes it easier to screw them up when assembling the case halves (especially the second half).

Several 440 and 660s that I use, and relatives and friends use have them. Even a pro firewood guy who uses the 660 hard every day loves it (but I told him he has to run Saber at 40:1, and he does). Good oil really helps!
