Tammy Trail (2) - 2016.jpg

Someone said pics under 2mb would post and that seems to be true. This pic is 1.5mb and it posted just fine. Couldn't post the others that are 2mb and greater. This is the trail leading out to the bank where the rounds were rolled down in the vid above (post #40). Lots of Tamarack back in there...that's why we call it the Tammy Trail. Every piece was wheel barrowed out anywhere from 20-80 yards...piled up on the bank and then thrown over when we were ready to load.

Looks like a good time and some nice wood.

What stretch/area of the Salmon where you cutting in?

Actually not cutting on the Salmon River. We were cutting in an area that overlooks the Salmon River drainage...really big country, as you know.

Looks like the 2mb pic limit issue has been fixed so I can post some pics now that I couldn't before. We had a snow storm come through on July 10th. The ridge behind our camp is 8000 ft. elevation and got about 5" of snow. Been going to this area for a long time but never seen it snow in July:

And beautiful sunsets:

I've been wanting a Simpson chainsaw winch for about 15 years now. Found a used one on CL yesterday that fit my budget. Should be a good combo mated to the Echo 600p. I can't tell you how many times over the years this could have come in handy:P1020478.JPG P1020479.JPG

Well 2017 came and went without the need to fire up the cs-800p:(. Cut a lot of firewood last year but the cs- 600p (20" b&c) and the ms460 (24" b&c) took care of business. But this year my wife and I got lucky and found a big red fir on a steep hill that measured 44 inches...just the tree for the 800p with a 36" b&c.

This is the biggest tree I've fallen to date. I know I would probably get flamed on the other forums for not doing this or that right but I suspect you guys will be understanding that I am an amateur when it comes to this stuff. My wife and I cut firewood once a year and, well, do the best we can with the knowledge and tools we have. It was a good show when this monster fell and I hope you guys enjoy it:

Cool video. Nice job on the tree. Saw ran strong too.

It's really a rush to see these big trees rip through the forest on the way down. Once that sucker starts, there's nothing gonna stop it which is why I kind of over did it on the wedges. That tree was so straight, it acted like it didn't want to move. The last thing I wanted was for it to tip back and pinch the bar.

At the time of that video, the 800p was on it's 4th tank since new/porting I think. Randy says it will be even stronger with a bigger carb which I have but have not got around to replacing yet. It's damn strong with the factory carb in my opinion. So much so, I venture to guess my MMWS MS460 wouldn't be able to hang with it. Of course the 800p has roughly 4cc more displacement... and it's heavier. I'm not getting rid of the 460 though...I really like it ALOT with a 24" b&c for what we cut. One of these days I will get around to doing a comparison video between these two saws. I think it will raise some eyebrows.

We ended up getting right at 4 cord out of that tree. My wife's uncle jokingly calls us the "Gypo Loggers" so we painted that name on the stump when we got back to camp. Everyone in camp got a good laugh out of that. The last pic is the whole tree minus the top half of the crown:
