How much of that 76 you got?
Dibs on some if you get rid of it!
The cutters suck, but the other parts are good.

So by 7x-series, I (guess?) 3/8", but x6=??, what 063, 068 groove width? or totally wrong?

I usually run Stihl but have had very good luck with Windsor for the price point.

Is there a faster chain on the line? I mean is there a brand thats better and faster cutting for staying with a round file? . . . what will get me the best quality but stay at a decent price?
Generally full chisel chain will cut faster, but semi-chisel will cut longer - a classic trade off. Only you can decide which you prefer.

I vote with trying a few loops of different brands and styles to see what works with your saws, and your wood, and your type of cutting. That's not to avoid your question, but personal cutting styles, and what users consider acceptable performance, vary considerably. You will also be making the choice about value - e.g. how much more you are willing to pay, if you find a more expensive chain that cuts better.

I am comfortable cutting with STIHL, Oregon, and Carlton chains for what I do, and keep my eyes open for good deals, sales, even used chain. If you are committed to one brand/model/style, then that is a bit more restrictive.

So what's the point? Narrow kerf 3/8?
Low profile 3/8, that runs on the same sprockets and bars as standard 3/8 pitch.

Lower power saws take smaller bites, and let the saw run without bogging down.

Just imagine how much simpler it would be if the saw companies stuck to one or two pitches, and one or two gauges, then let us swap out chains to adjust for conditions (narrow kerf 3/8, low profile 3/8, skip-tooth 3/8, . . .)!

I currently use my Jonsered 2171 for all my saw needs and just have a 28 inch bar and have been running skip tooth Stihl rs 3/8 .050 due to the fact that's what is available in town. I would like to buy a shorter bar for day to day stuff around the farm and firewood cutting. Any suggestions on bar and chain choice?
