Skip tooth= less teeth in the wood at any one time (15-50**%??)= (Cutters per foot)= HP per Tooth = (Skip/ Half-skip) HELPS MAKE UP for horsepower AND (some will argue) especially on long bars, = More room between cutters= better for chip removal. Additionally, it may take same number of teeth hitting wood to cut a foot of wood at 0.025/ cut, but (w/ skip/ half skip) fewer CUTTERS hit per revolution of the chain. HOWEVER, if (your) saw/ chain/ clutch are "bogging" / running slower due to drag, skip (might?) help you keep it moving at optimum speed. Something to think about. (**GRANBERG STYLE REMOVES TWO cutters for every pair). p.s. I say Granberg, but (wonder if) it is really Malloff patented?
