Stock they are close with the 592 have a bit of the upper hand, once ported the 395 has a clear advantage.
And I think Joe just got a new nickname... Dino Joe. Do you think he is more like a Stegosaurus or Ankylosaurus, maybe a Allosaurus?
One of my all time favorite saws but it is a little porky. The 572 definitely needs to go on a diet!
If I remember the weight was with the larg spikes and cover. But I took the picture some time ago. Nevertheless the the 572 is not light for a modern 70cc.Dang it! Anyone want to buy a 572, lol.
The newest 462's have a beefed up case around the studs. So it was a problem with longer bars.Light weight can come at a cost, this is second case to crack on this saw
View attachment 326489View attachment 326490 To be fair this was a 2018 462 that I bought used this way and previous owner ran 32” bar, and could have been heavy handed. He has been running 572’s last couple of years without any issues though. Newer 462’s might be different?
There's a reason for it...its meant to be used in log woods. If I remember the weight was with the larg spikes and cover. But I took the picture some time ago. Nevertheless the the 572 is not light for a modern 70cc.
I love mine but I’ll admits it not a 20” bar saw by any means. But it’s great with a 28 and 32 on it. We have a 462 with a 28 at work and it’s always on its nose. The way those guys run saws it’ll be destroyed in a year or 2 anywaysThere's a reason for it...its meant to be used in log woods.
The 372 XTorq didn't have one. They just come with the snow / air restriction cover. No air deverter ramp or gate in cover. They have a double wall to block heat better, I would assume. I didn't mind just the gate. Very cold mornings I would get it hot then shut it off and let it stand up for a few minutes in the snow with power head up. I always used Iso though.I wonder if it can be adapted. I've modified 372 and 2171 cylinder covers with the plastic flap from 346/357 family saws. Worked wonders when conditions were just right causing icing
462 is a 20-24 saw to me the way it balances and oils. 572 is a 24-32 saw how it oils and balances. That isn't to say a 462 wouldn't drive a 32" with a 7 pin, cuz it will...I love mine but I’ll admits it not a 20” bar saw by any means. But it’s great with a 28 and 32 on it. I like the 462 up to 28" after that, I'd grab a bigger saw. And yes, the 462 will pull a 32", but I agree that's pushing it in hardwood. The oilers, well I'm actually not a fan of the oil output on the 572, the 462 and 500i do better with the pin pushed in. That's my experience anyway.462 is a 20-24 saw to me the way it balances and oils. 572 is a 24-32 saw how it oils and balances. And I have the opposite experience. My 572 will oil a 32 plenty. Every stihl newer than my old ms460, I felt like, oiled like crap.I like the 462 up to 28" after that, I'd grab a bigger saw.
