Have an old 262 but been thinking about a new 562. Think I'll see much difference in performance, torque, etc.? I know Randy told me a few months back 262 for the win on longevity. Going to be used for firewood cutting. Saw I'm comparing it to is a 262 serial no.0360960 Don't know if that helps with comparison. 262 is stock. Thanks all!

Have owed a few 262's and have 1 562 and ran a few others. Put a new ring in that 262, open muffler, if you want lower squish and keep on cutting firewood. 562's are nice and smooth, but 262's are nothing to frown at. 262's are great saws. Ran a 262 in stock form for 19+ years without a problem and it cut a lot of firewood.

Thanks Duce. Not to mechanically inclined. Both will probably wind up staying stock. Sounds like you cut a lot of wood with those 262s. Do you notice much more zip with your 562?

Great! Can anyone tell how old the 262 is by the numbers on the serial ? You thinking of a 562 too dbittle? Think I want an xpg version with heated handle.

I sent my 562 to Mastermind and like auto-tune. Like 262's also and they are great firewood saws, not a cheap saw new and will probably outlast a 562. That being said if you had a brand new 262 and 562 sitting there and allowed me to take either one stock. I would pick up that 262 and walk away. The best solution to your problem is to have both of them.

Believe you have a 1990 made in week 36 and the 960th one made that week.

I bought it new but I'm pretty sure I got in the early 90s. Maybe even late late 80s. Could it maybe be a 1990?
