So here’s some back story. I think it’s pretty well known that Joe and Dan have a trade in the works for a 262. Dan decided that he wanted to send Joe his 262 prior to recieving the 359 from Joe for it. Why? Because Dan is an expectional guy. Dan contacted me and in conversations we decided to try and really surprise Joe with it. Dan shipped the saw to my place without Joe’s knowledge and even posted pics of the saw yesterday to make sure joe thought it was still in PA.

I figured if I got my 262 running I could invite Joe down to cut with it but swap my saw with his. I even went so far as to put my recoil on his saw because he had seen my new housing and decal a few days prior.

Joe stopped in last night to check out my completed 262 and after he left I dug his saw out of hiding and put my recoil + bar n chain on it, then hid my saw. We went to the barn this morning and he was none the wiser about the clandestine operations that had taken place.

Joe said I had to bring out my 357 for comparison so I grabbed my 262, wrapped in my chaps and brought it out. He gave me a weird look when I set it on the ground and I said “gotta keep my 357 warm” and he went about his cutting without a second thought...lol!!!! I guess my weird OCD has no exptectational limits.

So here’s the video of the surprise. Took him a minute as it was completely unexpected. Dan, we should’ve worked for the CIA or something...lol!

And here’s a video of both our saws, my chains rakers were too tall and the rakers on the chain I grabbed for Joe are too short for frozen Beech...lol! 262 still pulled it though!!!!! If the weather ever gets better I’ll put a good chain on both for a better video. Just grabbed a couple off the wall and apparently I failed to square them away before I hung them up.

Final parts were handle bar, top covers, bar n chain and clutch cover. Starts fast, idles stable and feels really snappy for a stock saw. Joe is coming down in the morning to help me get a video of it cutting. Think I’m gonna have to get another Tsumura solid bar, thieved this 20” off my 357 and I like it on the 262.

WAHOO 262!

The saw looks good. Are you going to do a square chain for it?

Yes sir I will...just too dern cold for me to tolerate right now. Plus, we’re heading to our parents for a belated easter dinner.

Great story! - love the "keeping my saw warm" b.s. that's hilarious!:risas3:

I can’t believe it worked! Joe didn’t even bat an eye! Like I said, I guess my weird OCDisms are of no surprise even with something ridiculous like that...LMAO!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment Stihl Bro. To say I’m happy with how it turned out would be an understatement. I got really frigin lucky, especially with the condition of the top cover.
